Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Coevolution of Nuclear Star Clusters and Massive Black Holes: Extreme-mass-ratio Inspirals

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We explore extreme-mass-ratio inspirals (EMRIs) in the coevolution of massive black holes (MBHs) and nuclear star clusters (NSCs), which host diverse stellar populations across a wide range of masses. The dynamics are simulated self-consistently with GNC

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Exploring the Evolution of a Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy with Smoothed-particle Hydrodynamics Simulations. I. Stellar Feedback

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
A fundamental question regarding the evolution of dwarf spheroidal galaxies is the identification of the key physical mechanisms responsible for gas depletion.

The z = 9.625 Cosmic Gems galaxy was a compact “blue monster” propelled by massive star clusters★

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
The recent discovery of five massive stellar clusters at z = 9.625 in the Cosmic Gems galaxy has raised the question about the formation mechanism of star clusters in the first 500 Myr after the Big Bang. We inferred the total stellar mass in clusters by

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

A Census of Star Formation Histories of Massive Galaxies at 0.6 < z < 1 from Spectrophotometric Modeling Using Bagpipes and Prospector

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present individual star formation histories (SFHs) of ∼3000 massive galaxies (log( M _* / M _⊙ ) > 10.5) from the Large Early Galaxy Astrophysics Census spectroscopic survey at a lookback time of ∼7 billion yr and quantify the population trends ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

An Early Dark Matter–dominated Phase in the Assembly History of Milky Way–mass Galaxies Suggested by the TNG50 Simulation and JWST Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Whereas well-studied galaxies at cosmic noon are found to be baryon dominated within the effective radius, recent JWST observations of z ∼ 6–7 galaxies with stellar masses of only M _* ∼ 10 ^8−9 M _⊙ surprisingly indicate that they are dark matter ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
