First JWST/NIRSpec Spectroscopy of O Stars in the Small Magellanic Cloud

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Determining how much mass is removed by stellar winds is crucial to understanding massive star evolution and feedback. However, traditional spectroscopic diagnostics in the UV and optical are not sensitive enough to characterize weak stellar winds of OB ...

Stellar magnetism, winds and their effects on planetary environments

open access: yes, 2016
Here, I review some recent works on magnetism of cool, main-sequence stars, their winds and potential impact on surrounding exoplanets. The winds of these stars are very tenuous and persist during their lifetime.

Observational evidences of stellar wind [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1981
AbstractObservations mainly from the IUE Spectra of HD 152236 (Blla) have been used to provide support to the various aspects of the theory of stellar wind (SW) and its interaction with the interstellar medium (ISM). Lines arising from excited levels connected radiatively to the ground level tend to be more frequent and/or strong compared to those ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Critical Metallicity of Cool Supergiant Formation. I. Effects on Stellar-mass Loss and Feedback

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
This paper systematically studies the relation between metallicity and mass loss of massive stars. We perform one-dimensional stellar evolution simulations and build a grid of ∼2000 models with initial masses ranging between 11 and 60 M _⊙ and absolute ...

Probing Clumpy Stellar Winds in SFXTs

open access: yes, 2008
Quantitative constraints on the wind clumping of massive stars can be obtained from the study of the hard X-ray variability of SFXTs. In these systems, a large fraction of the hard X-ray emission is emitted in the form of flares with typical duration of ...

Galactic Centre stellar winds and Sgr A* accretion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
(ABRIDGED) We present in detail our new 3D numerical models for the accretion of stellar winds on to Sgr A*. In our most sophisticated models, we put stars on realistic orbits around Sgr A*, include `slow' winds (300 km/s), and account for radiative ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Detection of Metal Enrichment by SN 2011jm in NGC 4809

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Cosmic metals are believed to originate from stellar and supernovae (SNe) nucleosynthesis, dispersed into the interstellar medium (ISM) through stellar winds and supernova explosions.

Hadronic processes within collective stellar winds

open access: yes, 2005
Recently, we have proposed that the interaction between relativistic protons resulting from Fermi first order acceleration in the superbubble of a stellar OB association or in other nearby accelerator and ions residing in single stellar winds of massive ...
