X-ray/Hα scaling relationships in stellar flares
Abstract We report on the results of our simultaneous observations of three large stellar flares with soft X-rays (SXRs) and an Hα emission line from two binary systems of RS CVn type. The energies released in the X-ray and Hα emissions during the flares were 1036–1038 and 1035–1037 erg, respectively.

COMPARISON OF DAMPED OSCILLATIONS IN SOLAR AND STELLAR X-RAY FLARES [PDF]
ABSTRACT We explore the similarity and difference of the quasi-periodic pulsations (QPPs) observed in the decay phase of solar and stellar flares at X-rays. We identified 42 solar flares with pronounced QPPs, observed with RHESSI, and 36 stellar flares with QPPs, observed with XMM-Newton. The empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method and

What is the importance of stellar X-ray flares to astrophysics, or even more, to the world at large? In the case of the Sun, changes in solar activity at the two temporal extremes can have quite significant consequences. Long-term changes in solar activity, such as the Maunder Minimum, can apparently lead to non-negligible alterations of the earth’s ...

Heating rates in X-ray flares: From solar microflares to stellar events
Advances in Space Research, 2005Abstract Soft X-ray solar and stellar flares appear in the coronae of solar-like stars due to abrupt release of energy accumulated in magnetic fields. To build a quantitatively correct model of a flare we need to know how much energy is released in flares of different sizes and strengths. Here we estimate and compare the energy release rate in flares
