Short-Duration X-ray Transients Observed With WATCH on Granat: Are Some of Them Related to Stellar Flares? [PDF]
AbstractDuring 1990-92, the WATCH all-sky X-ray monitor on GRANAT has discovered 6 short-duration X-ray transients. We discuss their possible relationship to peculiar stars. Only one source, GRS 1100-77 seems to be related to a T Tauri star.

Threshold Currents of Vacuum Arcs With Tungsten and Copper Cathodes
ABSTRACT This paper presents the results of an experimental study aimed at determining the threshold current for triggering a vacuum arc discharge, the probability of arc ignition and the average arc operation time depending on the current for tungsten and copper electrodes.

Simbol-X capability of detecting the non-thermal emission of stellar flares [PDF]
We investigate the capability of detecting, with Simbol-X, non-thermal emission during stellar flares, and distinguishing it from hot thermal emission. We find that flare non-thermal emission is detectable when at least ~20 cts are detected with the CZT ...

Optical and near-infrared photometric monitoring of the transient X-ray binary A0538-66 with REM [PDF]
The transient Be/X-ray binary A0538-66 shows peculiar X-ray and optical variability. Despite numerous studies, the intrinsic properties underlying its anomalous behaviour remain poorly understood.

X-Ray Emission of Nearby Low-mass and Sunlike Stars with Directly Imageable Habitable Zones
Stellar X-ray and UV radiation can significantly affect the survival, composition, and long-term evolution of the atmospheres of planets in or near their host star’s habitable zone (HZ).

(abridged) We study the hypothesis that observed X-ray/extreme ultraviolet emission from coronae of magnetically active stars is entirely (or to a large part) due to the superposition of flares, using an analytic approach to determine the amplitude ...

In 59,946 chronic hepatitis B patients followed over 23 years, COVID‐19 vaccination rollout was temporally associated with a 56% increase in HBsAg loss rates (peak 1.27 per 100 person‐years in 2022), followed by gradual waning. Negative control outcomes showed no similar pattern, supporting biological specificity. ABSTRACT Background and Aims Hepatitis

Stellar flare detection in XMM-Newton with gradient-boosted trees
Context. The EXTraS project, based on data collected with the XMM-Newton observatory, provides us with a vast amount of light curves for X-ray sources. For each light curve, EXTraS also provides us with a set of features.
