Turbulence manipulation in air–water flows on a stepped chute: An experimental study [PDF]
In a stepped channel operating with large flow rates, the flow skims over the pseudo-bottom formed by the step edges as a coherent stream. Intense three-dimensional recirculation is maintained by shear stress transmission from the mainstream to the step ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Hydraulics of skimming flows over stepped channels and spillways [PDF]
Stepped channel applications include a broad range of domains. A detailed review (past and present) was published by the author (Chanson 1995). To date most studies on gepped chutes applies to gradually variedflows in rectangular prismatic channels with horizontal. The three-dimensional features of stepped chute flows are not accounted.

Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Hydraulic Design of Stepped Cascades, Channels, Weirs and Spillways [PDF]
Stepped channels and spillways are used since more than 2,500 years. Recently, new construction materials (e.g. RCC, gabions) have increased the interest for stepped chutes.

High‐speed video and electric field change data have been used to examine the initiation and propagation of 21 recoil leaders, 7 of which evolved into dart (or dart‐stepped) leaders (DLs) initiating return strokes and 14 were attempted leaders (ALs), in ...

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
