The X‐Linked Intellectual Disability Gene, ZDHHC9, Is Important for Oligodendrocyte Subtype Determination and Myelination

open access: yesGlia, EarlyView.
Zdhhc9 ablation grossly changes gene expression and myelin protein levels in CNS WM. Zdhhc9 is important for the establishment of mature oligodendrocyte subtypes. Zdhhc9 is important for axon myelination and the maintenance of myelin integrity. ABSTRACT Two percent of patients with X‐linked intellectual disability (XLID) exhibit loss‐of‐function ...

Brain network characteristics of epileptogenic zone in drug ⁃ resistant epilepsy based on stereo⁃electroencephalography

open access: yesChinese Journal of Contemporary Neurology and Neurosurgery
Objective To analyze stereo ⁃electroencephalography (SEEG) data from patients with drug⁃resistant epilepsy (DRE) and explore the differences in graph theory indices of brain network between the epileptogenic zone (EZ) and the non⁃ictal zone (NIZ ...

Astroglial CB1 Reveal Sex‐Specific Synaptic Effects of Amphetamine

open access: yesGlia, EarlyView.
Astroglial CB1R mediates long‐term synaptic plasticity (LTD) in the Nucleus accumbens. Amphetamine saturates adenosine receptors and blocks LTD in males, but not females. Locomotor effects of amphetamine require astroglial CB1R in males, but not in females.

Adaptable three-pin skull clamp for large animal research

open access: yesHardwareX, 2023
Traditionally, surgical head immobilization for neurobiological research with large animals is achieved using stereotaxic frames. Despite their widespread use, these frames are bulky, expensive, and inflexible, ultimately limiting surgical access and ...

Size Adaptive Region Based Huffman Compression Technique [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
A loss-less compression technique is proposed which uses a variable length Region formation technique to divide the input file into a number of variable length regions. Huffman codes are obtained for entire file after formation of regions. Symbols of each region are compressed one by one.

Cortistain is expressed in a distinct subset of cortical interneurons [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Cortistatin is a presumptive neuropeptide that shares 11 of its 14 amino acids with somatostatin. In contrast to somatostatin, administration of cortistatin into the rat brain ventricles specifically enhances slow wave sleep, apparently by antagonizing ...

Three-dimensional atlas system for mouse and rat brain imaging data

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroinformatics, 2007
Tomographic neuroimaging techniques allow visualization of functionally and structurally specific signals in the mouse and rat brain. The interpretation of the image data relies on accurate determination of anatomical location, which is frequently ...

Nanomaterials for promoting axon regeneration after spinal cord injury: Mechanisms and prospects

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
The effects of clinical therapies for spinal cord injury (SCI) are greatly limited due to poor axon regeneration. This review systematically discusses the ability of nanomaterials (NMs) to treat SCI and the mechanism underlying their therapeutic effects. The properties of NMs that are conducive to axon regeneration after SCI are outlined.
