Quantitative Analysis of Steroid Hormones to Explore the Effects of Ginseng Medicines Base on UPLC-QqQ-MS/MS

open access: yesZhipu Xuebao
The medicinal nature of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) mainly plays a role in regulating the energy and material metabolism of the body. The energy metabolism of the body is also regulated by the nervous and endocrine systems, and the hormones are an

Variations in Plasma Sex Steroid Hormones of the Wild Caspian Cyprinid Fish, Kutum (Rutilus frisii Kutum) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cell and Molecular Research, 2016
Steroid hormones in plasma play an important role in reproductive cycles of animals especially during the final maturation stages. Steroid hormones synchronize gonad developments depending to fish species reproductive strategies.

Steroid hormones and pregnancy

open access: yesGynecological Endocrinology, 2019
Pregnancy is associated with physiological adjustments in order to allow adequate growth and fetal development. In particular, steroids are necessary to maintain in balance numerous functions during gestation. Steroidogenesis in the maternal, placental and fetal compartments and the biological effects of progestins and estrogens that play a pivotal ...

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Relationship between gut microbiota and host-metabolism: Emphasis on hormones related to reproductive function

open access: yesAnimal Nutrition, 2021
It has been well recognized that interactions between the gut microbiota and host-metabolism have a proven effect on health. The gut lumen is known for harboring different bacterial communities.

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs
