Steroid Hormone Exposure as a Potential Hazard in Milk Consumers: A Significant Health Challenge in Iran

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, 2021
The presence of steroid hormones in milk is inevitable, and they can be considered as potential carcinogenic agents for consumers. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the level of 17β-estradiol, progesterone, and hydroxyprogesterone in sixty-nine ...

HMGCR‐Driven Cholesterol Metabolism Promotes Osteoarthritis Progression by Accelerating Synovial Fibroblast Senescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the pathological context of osteoarthritis (OA), the phosphorylation of AKT1 at Ser473 enhances its binding to Lys140 of Insig1, which facilitates the formation of AKT1–Insig1 complex. Subsequently, the activation of AKT1 promotes the phosphorylation of Insig1 at Ser189, potentially enhancing the dissociation of Insig1 from sterol regulatory element‑

Spatially Organized Human Ovarian Spheroids Instruct Endometrial Morphogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A spatially organized human follicle‐like spheroid (SPHEGaT) composed of granulosa cells (GCs) and stromal‐derived theca‐like cells (TLCs) establishes sustained steroidogenesis in vitro. When co‐cultured with human endometrial organoids (EMOs), estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P4) exchange induces secretory/progesterone‐responsive differentiation ...

The causal relationship between steroid hormones and risk of stroke: evidence from a two-sample Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesMolecular Brain
It is unclear how steroid hormones contribute to stroke, and conducting randomized controlled trials to obtain related evidence is challenging. Therefore, Mendelian randomization (MR) technique was employed in this study to examine this association ...

SOME ASPECTS OF STEROID REGULATION IN TELEOSTS

open access: yesTransactions of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 2018
Steroid hormones are essential regulators of the organism functions connected with reproduction, stress and metabolism. The present review gives information on steroid hormones biosynthesis pathways in members of the class Teleostei in comparison with ...

Ubiquitination of ACSL4 by Parkin Suppresses Ferroptosis and Rescues Glucocorticoid‐Induced Bone Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
GCs reduce Parkin, leading to ACSL4 accumulation and PUFA‐phospholipid‐driven ferroptosis in BMSCs, which impairs osteogenesis and promotes adipogenesis, causing GIOP. Parkin restoration (via OE‐Parkin or Parkin‐LNP@DSS6) ubiquitinates and degrades ACSL4, inhibiting ferroptosis, rescuing bone formation, and rescues GIOP bone loss.

Integrated Single‐Nucleus Multi‐Omics Atlases Reveal Lineage Plasticity and Regulatory Networks of Luminal Epithelial Cells During Mammary Gland Lactation and Involution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study integrates single‐cell multi‐omics, spatial transcriptomics, and cross‐species comparative analyses to systematically characterize the cellular composition and differentiation trajectories of goat mammary epithelial cells, along with the gene regulatory networks and intercellular communication mechanisms governing these trajectories, thereby

Ahcy Acts as an Effector of Hnf4a‐Driven Super‐Enhancer Activation to Alleviate MASLD During Intermittent Fasting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study identifies an Hnf4a‐driven super‐enhancer of hepatic Ahcy that mediates the protective effects of intermittent fasting against MASLD. Disruption of the Ahcy super‐enhancer reduces Ahcy expression and exacerbates lipid accumulation. This pathway prevents aberrant promoter hypermethylation by maintaining the SAM/SAH balance, as exemplified by ...

Structural studies of two solid steroid compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Polymorphism (including solvated solid forms) is relatively common among steroids.Understanding the physical properties of each polymorph/ solvate is important for evaluating their relative stability and dissolution rates (related to bioavailability). In

Reorganization of Innate Immune Cell Lipid Profiles by Bioinspired Meroterpenoids to Limit Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resolution pharmacology is an emerging strategy to tackle inflammatory pathologies. Bioinspired meroterpenoids induce a lipid mediator class switch toward inflammation resolution in vitro and in vivo by targeting key nodes in lipid mediator biosynthesis and neutral lipid dynamics.
