Genome-Wide Association Study Reveals the QTLs for Seed Storability in World Rice Core Collections

open access: yesPlants, 2021
Seed storability is a main agronomically important trait to assure storage safety of grain and seeds in rice. Although many quantitative trait loci (QTLs) and associated genes for rice seed storability have been identified, the detailed genetic ...

Overexpression of the ABA Synthesis Gene OsABA2 Enhances Seed Storability in Rice [PDF]

open access: yesRice
Seed storability is critical for seed production and germplasm conservation. Numerous studies have linked seed storability to abscisic acid (ABA) metabolism; however, the use of biotechnological approaches to strategically and rapidly enhance seed ...

CRISPR/Cas9-mediated editing of barley lipoxygenase genes promotes grain fatty acid accumulation and storability [PDF]

open access: yesGM Crops & Food
Plant lipoxygenases (LOXs) catalyze the oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which can adversely affect grain storability. Although the genetic engineering of LOXs holds great potential for improving grain storage quality, this approach remains ...

Seed Storability in Rice: Physiological Foundations, Molecular Mechanisms, and Applications in Breeding

open access: yesRice Science
Long-term storage of crop seeds is critical for the conservation of germplasm resources, ensuring food supply, and supporting sustainable production. Rice, as a major food staple, has a substantial stock for consumption and production worldwide. However,

Insights into the Regulation of Rice Seed Storability by Seed Tissue-Specific Transcriptomic and Metabolic Profiling

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Non-dormant seeds are continuously aging and deteriorating during storage, leading to declining seed vigor, which is a challenge for the rice seed industry.

Comparison of fruit maturation and quality of ‘Gala’ apple strains at harvest and after storage [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Fruticultura, 2021
Strains of ‘Gala’ apples with highly red-colored skins have been planted in new orchards based on consumer interest and financial returns to the producers. The effect of somatic mutation may not be limited to change in fruit skin appearance.

Minorities and Storable Votes [PDF]

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of Political Science, 2005
The paper studies a simple voting system that has the potential to increase the power of minorities without sacrificing aggregate efficiency. Storable votes grant each voter a stock of votes to spend as desired over a series of binary decisions. By accumulating votes on issues that it deems most important, the minority can win occasionally. But because

Storable Good Market With Intertemporal Cost Variations [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2020
AbstractWe investigate a firm's dynamic pricing policy in a storable good market where the cost of production varies over time. In anticipation of a cost increase, the firm selects its prices to affect consumer storage. Price dynamics hinge upon the curvature of demand and the magnitude of the consumer storage cost.

Space storable propellant acquisition system [PDF]

open access: yes10th Propulsion Conference, 1974
A program was conducted to select the best surface tension propellant acquisition concept for an advanced 3-axis spacecraft propulsion system having 10-year life. Fabricability, performance capability, and spacecraft compatibility of various candidate concepts were assessed and compared.

Nonlinear Pricing of Storable Goods [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Economic Journal: Microeconomics, 2014
This paper develops a model of nonlinear pricing of storable goods. We show that storability imposes novel constraints on a monopolist's ability to extract surplus. We then show that the attempt to relax these constraints can generate cyclical patterns in pricing and sales, even when consumers are homogeneous.
