Reliability approach to rotating-component design [PDF]

open access: yes
A probabilistic methodology for designing rotating mechanical components using reliability to relate stress to strength is explained. The experimental test machines and data obtained for steel to verify this methodology are described. A sample mechanical

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Elasticidade, plasticidade, histerese... e ondas

Macroscopic fe-simulation of residual stresses in thermo-mechanically processed steels considering phase transformation effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Residual stresses are an important issue as they affect both the manufacturing processes as well as the performance of the final parts. Taking into account the whole process chain of hot forming, the integrated heat treatment provided by a defined ...

On $C_{J}$ and $C_{T}$ in Conformal QED

open access: yes, 2016
QED with a large number $N$ of massless fermionic degrees of freedom has a conformal phase in a range of space-time dimensions. We use a large $N$ diagrammatic approach to calculate the leading corrections to $C_T$, the coefficient of the two-point ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Critical dynamics of an isothermal compressible non-ideal fluid

open access: yes, 2012
A pure fluid at its critical point shows a dramatic slow-down in its dynamics, due to a divergence of the order-parameter susceptibility and the coefficient of heat transport.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Experimental and theoretical research on reinforced lightweight concrete flexural elements / Armuotojo lengvojo betono lenkiamųjų elementų eksperimentiniai ir teoriniai tyrimai

open access: yesMokslas: Lietuvos Ateitis, 2014
The paper deals with analysis of structural lightweight concrete. New lightweight concrete mixture made with expanded clay aggregate has been proposed and applied for experimental rein-forced concrete beams.

On $C_J$ and $C_T$ in the Gross-Neveu and $O(N)$ Models

open access: yes, 2016
We apply large $N$ diagrammatic techniques for theories with double-trace interactions to the leading corrections to $C_J$, the coefficient of a conserved current two-point function, and $C_T$, the coefficient of the stress-energy tensor two-point ...
