Mechanistic Insights Into Hepatotoxicity‐Induced Liver Cirrhosis and Anemia: Iron Dysregulation, the Hepcidin–Ferroportin Axis, and Emerging Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesOrgan Medicine, Volume 3, Issue 3, Page 171-185, September 2026.
Patients with alcohol‐associated liver cirrhosis or acetaminophen (APAP) toxicity frequently develop anemia with iron metabolism disturbances. Dysregulation of hepcidin–ferroportin signaling, along with inflammation, oxidative stress, hypoxia, impaired intestinal iron absorption, malnutrition, and gastrointestinal bleeding, contributes to anemia ...

Shear‐Responsive Red Blood Cell Carriers for Targeted Drug Delivery to Constricted Arteries

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 52, 16 September 2026.
Red blood cells are harnessed as mechanoresponsive carriers that exploit the elevated shear stress of stenotic arteries to transiently open membrane pores and release encapsulated therapeutics selectively at sites of arterial narrowing. By coupling vascular hemodynamics with RBC membrane mechanics, a hemodynamically activated platform for localized ...

Harnessing of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Pomace Powder on Growth Response and Haematological Indices of Sonali Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Dried tomato pomace powder is evaluated as a functional feed additive for Sonali chickens under tropical conditions. Dietary supplementation up to 6% improves growth performance, feed efficiency, carcass yield, serum lipid profile and economic return without adverse haematological effects.

The Haematological and Biochemical Responses of Goat Bucks to Range Grazing and Indoor Concentrate‐Based Feeding Systems

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Range grazing remains the principal feed resource for goats in smallholder production systems, particularly in regions where range grazing and intensive concentrate‐based systems coexist. However, expanding cropland has reduced the availability of grazing lands and shifted production toward concentrate‐based feeding systems ...

Anemia of Inflammation in Solid Tumor Patients and Practical Education for Oncologists and Nurses

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 17, September 2026.
Tumor‐ and immune‐derived cytokines including IL‐6, IL‐1β, TNF‐α, TGF‐β, IL‐10, and IFN‐γ drive anemia of inflammation: IL‐6/TNF‐α upregulate hepatic hepcidin to block iron export, while other cytokines suppress erythropoiesis and shorten red cell survival.

Oxygenaging: A Physiological Framework for Geroscience

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 9, September 2026.
Mechanisms of aging disrupt oxygen homeostasis through three converging processes: oxygen‐cascade impairment, microvascular dysfunction, and molecular maladaptation. “Oxygenaging” integrates these domains to explain how declining oxygen delivery and utilization drive mitochondrial instability and amplify the effect of the hallmarks of aging.

Quantitative analysis of DNA‐GATA1 binding alterations linked to hematopoietic disorders

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 17, Page 5149-5169, September 2026.
Native holdup allows the quantitative determination of affinities between full‐length transcription factors and DNA. Mutations in either the protein or the DNA can modulate binding strength, which can be precisely quantified using this approach. Applied to GATA1, it revealed mutations that alter DNA binding.

Blood flow restriction: The acute effects of body tilting and reduced gravity analogues on limb occlusion pressure

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 9, Page 4103-4114, 1 September 2026.
Abstract Blood flow restriction (BFR) has been identified as a potential countermeasure to mitigate physiological deconditioning during spaceflight. Guidelines recommend that tourniquet pressure be prescribed relative to limb occlusion pressure (LOP); however, it is unclear whether body tilting or reduced gravity analogues influence LOP.
