Evolution of structural characteristics with multistage stress fields in the Sikeshu Sag, Junggar Basin

open access: yes地质科技通报
Objective The Sikeshu Sag of the southern Junggar Basin is tectonically located in the western thrust belt of the North Tianshan Mountains. The basin has undergone multiple stages and multidirectional tectonic movements since the Palaeozoic.

The stress system generated by an electromagnetic field in a suspension of drops [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
The stress generated in a suspension of drops in the presence of a uniform electric field and a pure straining motion, taking into account that the magnetohydrodynamic effects are dominant was calculated.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

An elastoplastic theory of dislocations as a physical field theory with torsion

open access: yes, 2002
We consider a static theory of dislocations with moment stress in an anisotropic or isotropic elastoplastical material as a T(3)-gauge theory. We obtain Yang-Mills type field equations which express the force and the moment equilibrium.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Numerical computation of the domain of operation of an electrospray of a very viscous liquid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A numerical study is carried out of the injection of a very viscous liquid of small electrical conductivity at a constant flow rate through an orifice in a metallic plate under the action of an electric field.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

The electrorheology of suspensions consisting of Na-Fluorohectorite synthetic clay particles in silicon oil

open access: yes, 2010
Under application of an electric field greater than a triggering electric field $E_c \sim 0.4$ kV/mm, suspensions obtained by dispersing particles of the synthetic clay fluoro-hectorite in a silicon oil, aggregate into chain- and/or column-like ...

Subparticle stress fields in granular solids [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2009
We rely on the lattice element method to simulate and analyze the stress fields at subparticle scales in two-dimensional granular solids composed of particles of variable stiffness together with an interstitial matrix of variable volume fraction. We find that the contact force distributions as approached from the subscale stresses are similar to those ...
