Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

WAVE TECTONICS OF THE EARTH

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2015
In the Earth's lithosphere, wavy alternation of positive and negative heterochronous structures is revealed; such structures are variable in ranks and separated by vergence zones of fractures and folds.

Quantum fluctuations of fields and stress tensors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2022
This is a review of recent work on quantum fluctuations of the electric field and of stress tensor operators and their physical effects. The probability distribution for vacuum fluctuations of the electric field is Gaussian, but that for quadratic operators, such as the energy density, can have a more slowly decreasing tail, leading to an enhanced ...

Epigenetic reprogramming of lineage switching in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer cells rarely commit to a single identity. Epigenetic mechanisms and tumor microenvironment cues push epithelial cells toward flexible, hybrid states that can shift into mesenchymal, neuroendocrine, or stem‐like fates, driving metastasis, drug resistance, and tumor heterogeneity. Targeting the epigenetic regulators behind these transitions, using

A parametric study of laser spot size and coverage on the laser shock peening induced residual stress in thin aluminium samples

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2015
Laser Shock Peening is a fatigue enhancement treatment using laser energy to induce compressive Residual Stresses (RS) in the outer layers of metallic components.

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Research on Analytical Solution of Stress Fields in Adjacent Tunnel Surrounding Rock Under Blasting and Verification Analysis

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In tunnel blasting, an analytical solution for dynamic stress in the surrounding rock of adjacent tunnels is critical for dynamic response analysis, mechanical evaluations, and crack propagation control.

Numerical study of the influence of seepage force on the stress field around a vertical wellbore

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2020
Fluid seepage into rock pores not only generates poroelastic stress but also exerts seepage force on the rock skeleton. However, since the mechanism of the effect of seepage force on the stress field around the wellbore is not clear, conventional methods

Regional stress field of the Indian Plate

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1985
We have calculated the regional stress field in the Indian plate, implementing dependence of slab pull and ridge push on the age of the oceanic lithosphere in the finite element procedure. The high level of the calculated stress field (order of a few kbar) and the dominance of compression in the plate are consequences of the unique dynamic situation of
