Promising Prodiginins Biological Activities

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Prodiginins are a large family of at least 34 pyrrolic compounds, including the well‐studied red pigment prodigiosin. Prodiginins are produced by several microorganisms displaying broad biological activities, including antimicrobial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antiproliferative, and immunosuppressive activities.

Manufacture of Soft‐Hard Implants from Electrospun Filaments Embedded in 3D Printed Structures

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 22, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
The surgical repair of rotator cuff tendon tears can fail due to use of suture anchors that do not promote healing of the native tissues. A simple manufacturing approach is presented here that combines electrospun filaments and 3D printing to achieve biphasic scaffolds using biocompatible materials: a soft polydioxanone cuff embedded in a porous ...

Catalysis in Chemical Modification of Proteins

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Catalytic principles of synthetic organic chemistry have been increasingly applied to chemical modification of proteins during the recent years. This review article describes how seven types of catalytic systems —electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, metal catalysis, acid catalysis, organocatalysis, supramolecular catalysis, and heterogeneous catalysis ...

Recent cutting‐edge technologies for the delivery of peptide nucleic acid.

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) have garnered significant attention due to their enhanced chemical, physical, and binding properties in comparison to natural nucleic acids. This prompted their application in antigene/antisense approach, assigning them a pivotal role in gene editing and, more recently, showing their potential as “bilingual” molecules being
