Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

The static stress change triggering model: Constraints from two southern California aftershock sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Static stress change has been proposed as a mechanism of earthquake triggering. We quantitatively evaluate this model for the apparent triggering of aftershocks by the 1992 M_W 7.3 Landers and 1994 M_W 6.7 Northridge earthquakes.

Dynamic versus static stress triggering and friction parameters: Inferences from the November 23, 1980, Irpinia earthquake

open access: yes, 2000
International audienceThis paper concentrates on the problem of fault interaction and earthquake triggering through the 1980 Irpinia, Italy, sequence. More specifically, this paper deals with the problem of the triggering of the second subevent by the ...

A parametric study of the numerical simulations of triggered VLF emissions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This work is concerned with the numerical modelling of VLF emissions triggered in the equatorial region of the Earth’s magnetosphere, using a well established 1D Vlasov Hybrid Simulation (VHS) code.

Identifying asynchronies: work shifting and double triggering

open access: yes, 2022
Mechanical ventilation supports the work of breathing, improves gas exchange, and unloads the respiratory muscles, all of which require good synchronization between the patient and the ventilator.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Acute myocardial infarction triggered by emotional stress

open access: yesThe American Journal of Cardiology, 1992
Abstract Myocardial infarction has been shown to have a circadian pattern of occurrence, with a significantly increased incidence in the early morning hours. 1 Recognition that onset of acute coronary syndromes may not occur as a random event has led investigators to search for triggers of myocardial infarction.

Translating whole‐genome doubling into precision medicine in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Whole‐genome doubling creates a WGD‐positive tumor state characterized by persistent chromosomal instability, karyotypic diversification, and cellular stress. These same biological pressures drive aggressive tumor evolution while exposing therapeutic vulnerabilities, providing a rationale for WGD‐informed precision medicine. Whole‐genome doubling (WGD)

Oxidative stress in genetic mouse models of Parkinson's disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
There is extensive evidence in Parkinson’s disease of a link between oxidative stress and some of the monogenically inherited Parkinson’s disease-associated genes.

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...
