Cardiac remodeling and arrhythmia in a mouse model of Depdc5 haploinsufficiency
Abstract Objective Some ion channel genes linked to developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) are also linked to cardiac arrhythmia, leading to the hypothesis that predisposition to cardiac arrhythmias may contribute to the complex disease presentation of DEE and possibly to the mechanism of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.

Diabetes Ketoacidosis and Recurrent Childhood Stroke-like Episodes
A 13-year and 4-month-old girl was brought to the emergency department due to fever, dizziness,vomiting, and blurred vision. Laboratory data revealed hyperglycemia with an HbA1C of 7.3 percent, ketonuria, and lactic acidosis. The initial impression was diabetic ketoacidosis.

Status epilepticus: Updates on mechanisms and treatments
Abstract Status epilepticus (SE) consists of prolonged, self‐sustaining seizures and is a common neurological emergency that causes respiratory compromise and neuronal injury. Without prompt treatment, the seizures can become resistant to benzodiazepines, leading to the progressive evolution of established, refractory, and super‐refractory SE.
