Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The Effect of the Interatomic Distances Distribution Character on the Radial Distribution Function of Amorphous Solids [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2015
It is proposed parabolic assignment of the radial distribution function peaks shape. It is shown that this assignment is more in line with the real structure of disordered atomic networks, in comparison with the Gauss distribution.

Intention for international assignment among workers in Ghana: Modelling the role of motivators, demotivators and cultural disposition.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
This study examined intention for international assignment among workers in Ghana by modelling the role of motivators, demotivators and cultural disposition on such intentions.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Reducing the Asymmetry of Theta-Assignment to Third-Factor Principles

open access: yesLanguages
This study focuses on the long-standing issue of θ-assignment in the generative enterprise literature. Despite the asymmetry of θ-assignment regarding structural positions (Head–Complement/Specifier–Head) being sanctioned by the Duality of Semantics, I ...

Gender assignment and the structure of the lexicon [PDF]

open access: yesLanguage Typology and Universals, 2006
Abstract This article provides a general survey of a number of (mostly Indo-European) gender systems. In more recent years, regularities found in those systems have been accounted for by rule-based approaches where gender is assigned on-line by symbolic rules.

A Constraint Programming Approach to the Hospitals / Residents Problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
An instance I of the Hospitals / Residents problem (HR) involves a set of residents (graduating medical students) and a set of hospitals, where each hospital has a given capacity.

Static Output Feedback: On Essential Feasible Information Patterns

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, for linear time-invariant plants, where a collection of possible inputs and outputs are known a priori, we address the problem of determining the communication between outputs and inputs, i.e., information patterns, such that desired ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
