A Theory of Structure of Slivers

open access: yesJournal of the Textile Machinary Society, 1958

Structured theories in LCF [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
An extension to the Edinburgh LCF interactive theorem-proving system is described which provides new ways of constructing theories, drawing upon ideas from the Clear specification language. A new theory can be built from an existing theory in two new ways: by renaming its types and constants, or by abstraction (forgetting some types and constants and ...

Theory of aging in structural glasses [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2004
The random first-order transition theory of the dynamics of supercooled liquids is extended to treat aging phenomena in nonequilibrium structural glasses. A reformulation of the idea of “entropic droplets” in terms of libraries of local energy landscapes is introduced which treats in a uniform way the supercooled liquid (reproducing earlier results ...

The Effective Field Theory of Large-Scale Structure

open access: yes, 2022
The Effective Field Theory of Large-Scale Structure describes the long wavelength dynamics of the density perturbations in the universe. I will review the theory and the application to data, including some recent developments.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Shedding light on the enigmatic TcO2·xH2O structure with density functional theory and EXAFS spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2022
The β-emitting 99Tc isotope is a high-yield fission product in 235U and 239Pu nuclear reactors, raising special concern in nuclear waste management due to its long half-life and the high mobility of pertechnetate (TcO4−).

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Inverse and Forward Kinematics and CAD-Based Simulation of a 5-DOF Delta-Type Parallel Robot with Actuation Redundancy

open access: yesRobotics
This article introduces a novel modification of a Delta-type parallel robot. The robot has five degrees of freedom and provides its end-effector with a 3T2R motion pattern (three translational and two rotational degrees of freedom).

Supergravity and M-Theory

open access: yes, 2009
Supergravity provides the effective field theories for string compactifications. The deformation of the maximal supergravities by non-abelian gauge interactions is only possible for a restricted class of charges.
