A power method for the structured singular value [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 27th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2003
An iterative algorithm is presented to compute lower bounds for the structured singular value ( mu ). The algorithm resembles a mixture of power methods for eigenvalues and singular values, since the structured singular value can be viewed as a generalization of both. If the algorithm converges, a lower bound for mu results.

Bounds on the Singular Values of Matrices with Displacement Structure

open access: yesSIAM Review, 2019
Matrices with displacement structure, such as Pick, Vandermonde, and Hankel matrices, appear in a diverse range of applications. In this paper, we use an extremal problem involving rational functions to derive explicit bounds on the singular values of such matrices. For example, we show that the kth singular value of a real n \times n positive definite

Droop-based active voltage regulation control and robust stability analysis for VSCs in the large-scale RES-integrated power system

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
New features like high penetration level, low inertia, and weak damping are decreasing voltage support capacity in the power system as it sees large-scale renewable energy source (RES) integration continuously.

On the norms used in computing the structured singular value [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Different norms are considered to replace the Euclidean norm in an algorithm given by M. H. K. Fan and A. L. Tits (ibid., vol. 33, pp. 284-289, 1988), which is used for the computation of the structured singular value of any matrix.

Fingerprint Database Reconstruction Based on Robust PCA for Indoor Localization

open access: yesSensors, 2019
The indoor localization method based on the Received Signal Strength (RSS) fingerprint is widely used for its high positioning accuracy and low cost. However, the propagation behavior of radio signals in an indoor environment is complicated and always ...

Computing Lower Bounds of µ-Values for a Class of Rotary Electrical Machines

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analysis and Applications, 2019
In this article we present the computations of lower bounds of well-known mathematical quantity in control theory known as structured singular value for a family of structured matrices obtained for a DC Motor, that is an electrical machine.

Structured pseudospectra in structural engineering

open access: yes, 2005
This paper presents a new method for computing the pseudospectra of a matrix that respects a prescribed sparsity structure. The pseudospectrum is defined as the set of points in the complex plane to which an eigenvalue of the matrix can be shifted by a ...

Visual perception of procedural textures: identifying perceptual dimensions and predicting generation models. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Procedural models are widely used in computer graphics for generating realistic, natural-looking textures. However, these mathematical models are not perceptually meaningful, whereas the users, such as artists and designers, would prefer to make ...
