Acute toxicity and sub-chronic toxicity of steroidal saponins from Dioscorea zingiberensis C.H.Wright in rodents

Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2009
Steroidal saponins from Dioscorea zingiberensis are widely used in China for curing cardiovascular diseases. However, there was little toxicological information available on them. The study evaluated potential toxicity of the steroidal saponins and analyzed the metabolites in rats. For the acute study, the steroidal saponins were administered to kunming ...

Toxicity assessment due to sub-chronic exposure to individual and mixtures of four toxic heavy metals

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2015
Humans are exposed to a cocktail of heavy metal toxicants in the environment. Though heavy metals are deleterious, there is a paucity of information on toxicity of low dose mixtures. In this study, lead (Pb) (0.01mg/L), mercury (Hg) (0.001mg/L), cadmium (Cd) (0.005mg/L) and arsenic (As) (0.01mg/L) were administered individually and as mixtures to 10 ...

Pathology of sub-chronic cadmium and chlorpyrifos toxicity in broilers

Indian Journal of Veterinary Pathology, 2016
The present study was conducted to evaluate the toxic effects of cadmium and chlorpyrifos and their interaction on liver and kidney of broiler chicken. Twenty four birds were divided into four groups. Group-I was kept as control. Group-II, III and IV birds were administered with cadmium (50 mg/L in drinking water), chlorpyrifos (4 mg/kg body weight ...

Acute and (sub)chronic toxicity of the neonicotinoid imidacloprid on Chironomus riparius

Chemosphere, 2018
Impacts of neonicotinoids on non-target insects, including aquatic species, may significantly influence ecosystem structure and functioning. The present study investigated the sensitivity of Chironomus riparius to imidacloprid exposures during 24-h, 10- and 28-days by assessing larval survival, growth, emergence and oxidative stress-related parameters.

Acute and sub-chronic oral toxicity studies of erythritol in Beagle dogs

Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2017
Polyols, also known as sugar alcohols, are widely used in the formulation of tooth-friendly and reduced-calorie foods. Considering the significant health benefits of polyols in products formulated for human use, there is increased interest in evaluating potential uses in companion animal applications.

The sub-chronic oral toxicity of 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene in Sprague–Dawley rats

Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, 2014
The systemic toxicity of a trimethylbenzene isomer and constituent of C9 aromatic solvents (1,3,5-trimethylbenzene, 135-TMB) was studied in Sprague-Dawley rats following a 90-day oral gavage exposure to 0, 50, 200 and 600 mg/kg/day. No statistically significant effects on body weight, body weight gain or food consumption were observed at study ...

Sub-chronic Toxicity of Defoamer Used in Seawater Desalination.

Biomedical and environmental sciences : BES, 2019
To explore the possible long-term health effects of the defoamer used in seawater desalination by sub-chronic toxicity testing.Blood analysis, internal organ assessment, and histopathological examination were carried out in rats exposed to low, medium, and high (0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 g/kg BW, respectively) doses of defoamer for 90 days through oral ...

Acute, genetic and sub-chronic toxicities of flaxseed derived Maillard reaction products

Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2019
In present study, the acute, genetic, and sub-chronic toxicities of flaxseed derived Maillard reaction products (MRPs) were investigated. Acute toxicity results showed that the 50% lethal dose (LD50) of MRPs in rats was >15.0 g/kg body weight (BW); whereas, the 50% effective dose (ED50) of MRPs was 12.3 g/kg BW.

Acute and Sub Chronic Oral Toxicity of Sida rhomboidea.Roxb Leaf Extract

Journal of Complementary and Integrative Medicine, 2010
Acute and sub chronic oral administration of Sida rhomboidea.Roxb (SR) aqueous leaf extract did not register any adverse behavioral alterations or significant toxic manifestations. However, significant decrement in food intake and body weight gain along with higher plasma AST and ALT levels were recorded with a dose of 3000 mg/kg body weight.
