Digital Holographic Interferometry for the Measurement of Symmetrical Temperature Fields in Liquids

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
In this paper, we present a method of quantitatively measuring in real-time the dynamic temperature field change and visualization of volumetric temperature fields generated by a 2D axial-symmetric heated fluid from a pulsatile jet in a water tank ...

Numerical and experimental investigation of a confined plunging liquid jet system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In a confined plunging liquid jet (CPLJ) system, a liquid jet is allowed to fall in a partially submerged narrow downcomer tube. Liquid jet impingement at gas-liquid interface leads to entrainment of gas, which is dispersed down the downcomer tube in to ...

Hydrogel‐Based Airway‐on‐Tube With Perfusable Endothelial Lumen and Outward Epithelialization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel‐based airway‐on‐tube platform featuring a perfusable endothelial lumen and outward epithelialization is presented. The system supports primary human bronchial epithelial and lung microvascular endothelial coculture under air‐liquid interface conditions.

Propeller-Induced Jet Impact on Vegetated Flow Fields: Complex Coupled Effect towards the Velocity Profile

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The failure of swirling ship propellers in marine environments can lead to huge repair costs. One of the main causes of such failure is when propellers tangle with vegetation, especially in shallow flow environments like ports, harbours, or shipyards. In

Reattachment Phenomena and Diffusion of Plane Submerged Water Jets.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series B, 1998
Plane submerged water jets which issue from nozzle into quiescent water in channel have been known to attach to the adjacent solid or free surface owing to the Coanda effect. This paper is concerned with an experimental investigation on the plane submerged jets. Flows are visualized by using hydrogen bubbles and tracer particles.

Study on Submerged Jet Problem of Concave Optics Surface in Fluid Jet Polishing

open access: yes, 2011
Fluid jet polishing (FJP) is a computer controlled polishing (CCP) process. As the water effect of concave optics surface, the slurry won’t spread immediately until component have a basinful, and jet goes through a layer of slurry firstly before impact ...

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

Interactions between a submerged water jet and a free surface

open access: yes, 2022
This Final Year Project investigated the interactions between a submerged water jet and a free surface, with the aim of visualising and analysing the flow behaviour of the jet both below and as it approaches the interface between air and water.

Structure of underexpanded round air jets submerged in water [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1989
Abstract The structure and mixing properties of round turbulent air jets submerged in still water were studied experimentally, considering subsonic and sonic jet exit conditions with underexpansion ratios as high as 8: 1. Measurements included the following mean properties: static pressure distributions along the axis, void-fraction distributions and
