Side Chain Elimination Enables Low‐Cost Fused‐Ring Acceptors and Reveals a Compact Tetrameric Structure for High‐Photocurrent Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
β‐side chain elimination enables cost‐effective fused‐ring acceptors, JSM5 and JSM6, with simplified synthesis. The observed compact tetrameric structures induced by S···N intermolecular interactions lead to 3D charge transport and enhance intermolecular connectivity, delivering high short‐circuit current density up to 28 mA cm−2, a step closer to the ...

Asymmetrically Fluorinated Phenyl 4‐biphenylcarboxylate Motifs as a Design Principle for Enantiotropic Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The effect of the structural arrangement of DIO and its analogs on ferroelectric phases is explored. Consequently, it is found that an asymmetrically fluorinated phenyl 4‐biphenylcaroboxylate skeleton is one of the favorable structural motifs for the emergence of enantiotropic ferroelectric liquid crystal phases.

Atroposelective Access to π‐Conjugated 1,2‐Azaborepines Enabled by Palladium‐Catalyzed Cyclization of N‐Heterobiaryls with Alkynylboronates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a palladium‐catalyzed atroposelective cyclization of N‐heterobiaryl triflates with alkynyl boronates to access seven‐membered 1,2‐BN‐bridged biaryls with high yields and excellent enantioselectivity via a cascade DyKAT, cis‐carbopalladation, and 1,2‐migration, which expands the toolbox for axially chiral π‐conjugated boron compounds and opens

Influence of aromatic substituents on the synthesis of schiff bases derived from trans-(R,R)-diaminocyclohexane: a spectrophotometric and dft b3lyp study

open access: yesChemistry Journal of Moldova: General, Industrial and Ecological Chemistry
In this work, the synthesis of Schiff bases derived from trans-(R,R)-diaminocyclohexane by microwave irradiation (MW) is presented. The reaction yields varied between 31% and 69%, being influenced by the electronic nature of the substituents (H, Cl, Br ...

Pyrrolidines from β-Aminoselenides via Radical Cyclization. Diastereoselectivity Control by the N-Substituent

open access: yes, 2016
N-Allyl-β-aminoalkyl phenyl selenidesprecursors of 3-aza-5-hexenyl radicalswere prepared by ring opening of N-allylaziridines with benzeneselenol under acidic conditions or by sodium cyanoborohydride reduction of N-allylimines of α-phenylselenenyl ...

Quantifying Magnetic Anisotropy of Ferroelectric Fe(II) Square‐Pyramidal Systems Using Torque Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Five‐coordinate, square‐pyramidal Fe(II) complexes adopting polar, non‐centrosymmetric crystal structures exhibit exceptionally large easy‐axis magnetic anisotropy. Ligand‐driven distortions critically control the anisotropy, and the dielectric, Polarization vs Elecric field and piezo response studies confirm intrinsic polarization, positioning these ...

Substituent Effects on the Ring Opening of 2-Aziridinylmethyl Radicals

open access: yes, 2016
Substituent effects on the ring-opening reactions of 2-aziridinylmethyl radicals were studied systematically for the first time utilizing the ONIOM(QCISD(T)/6-311+G(2d,2p):B3LYP/6-311+G(3df,2p)) method.
