Embryonic stem cells become mechanoresponsive upon exit from ground state of pluripotency [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Biology, 2019
Stem cell fate decisions are driven by a broad array of signals, both chemical and mechanical. Although much progress has been made in our understanding of the impact of chemical signals on cell fate choice, much less is known about the role and ...

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Rewiring mesenchymal stem cell lineage specification by switching the biophysical microenvironment

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2014
The propensity of stem cells to specify and commit to a particular lineage program is guided by dynamic biophysical and biochemical signals that are temporally regulated.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Substrate Specificity of Fumarase

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1968
Abstract The substrate specificity of fumarase has been studied by measuring the ability of the enzyme to hydrate or dehydrate derivatives of fumarate and l-malate. Fumarase was observed to hydrate fumarate and its derivatives in the order, fluorofumarate g fumarate g chlorofumarate g bromofumarate g acetylenedicarboxylate g iodofumarate g mesaconate ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Impact of severe cracked germanium (111) substrate on aluminum indium gallium phosphate light-emitting-diode’s electro-optical performance

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2016
Cracked die is a serious failure mode in the Light Emitting Diode (LED) industry – affecting LED quality and long-term reliability performance. In this paper an investigation has been carried out to find the correlation between severe cracked germanium ...

Qubit compatible superconducting interconnects

open access: yes, 2017
We present a fabrication process for fully superconducting interconnects compatible with superconducting qubit technology. These interconnects allow for the 3D integration of quantum circuits without introducing lossy amorphous dielectrics.
