Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Optical Interference Substrates for Nanoparticles and Two-Dimensional Materials
Interference substrates are useful in enhancing Raman and luminescence signals and in increasing the optical contrast of nanoparticles and atomically thin layers. Interference substrates played a crucial role in the discovery of the electric field effect

Electromagnetic modelling of 3D multilayer CPW transmission lines on GaAs/Si substrates for MMICs [PDF]
3D multilayer coplanar waveguide structures for MMIC applications on both silicon and gallium arsenide substrates are proposed. Their performances are investigated with electromagnetic simulations and their results are compared in order to find the best ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Epitaxial growth of SiC on complex substrates [PDF]
Epitaxial growth of SiC on complex substrates was carried out at substrate temperature from 1200 degreesC to 1400 degreesC. Three kinds of new complex substrates, c-plane sapphire, AlN/sapphire, and GaN/AlN/sapphire, were used in this study.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
