Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Optical Interference Substrates for Nanoparticles and Two-Dimensional Materials

open access: yes, 2013
Interference substrates are useful in enhancing Raman and luminescence signals and in increasing the optical contrast of nanoparticles and atomically thin layers. Interference substrates played a crucial role in the discovery of the electric field effect

Electromagnetic modelling of 3D multilayer CPW transmission lines on GaAs/Si substrates for MMICs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
3D multilayer coplanar waveguide structures for MMIC applications on both silicon and gallium arsenide substrates are proposed. Their performances are investigated with electromagnetic simulations and their results are compared in order to find the best ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Color Evaluation of Pre-Shaded Monolithic Zirconia Restorations on Different Substrates and Resin Cements

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study evaluated if the material, the substrate, and the cement have no influence on the color of pre-shaded monolithic zirconia crowns. The specific effect of the cement over each substrate/brand group was also studied.

Epitaxial growth of SiC on complex substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Epitaxial growth of SiC on complex substrates was carried out at substrate temperature from 1200 degreesC to 1400 degreesC. Three kinds of new complex substrates, c-plane sapphire, AlN/sapphire, and GaN/AlN/sapphire, were used in this study.

Screening of locally available organic materials as substrates for production of Pochonia chlamydosporia in Kenya

open access: yes, 2019
Pochonia chlamydosporia is a nematophagous fungus with high potential for the biological control of root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.). The fungus is commonly produced in colonised rice substrate, but non-staple and more affordable substrates may ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Growth and development of basil, thyme and oregano seedlings on organic and conventional substrates

open access: yesGlasnik Zaštite Bilja, 2023
Medicinal and aromatic herbs are plant species whose bioactive components are used in pharmacy, medicine, food and cosmetic industry. Considering the increase in global demand for medicinal plants, the cultivation of these plants gain importance. The aim
