Achieving arithmetic learning in honeybees and examining how individuals learn
In recent years honeybees have demonstrated intriguing numerical capacities, leading to the recent discovery of their ability to perform simple arithmetic by learning to add or subtract ‘one’ using symbolic representations of operators.

How subtraction of a single photon affects many quantum modes [PDF]
The subtraction of a single photon from a multimode quantum field is analyzed as the conditional evolution of an open quantum system. We develop a theory describing different subtraction schemes in a unified approach and we introduce the concept of subtraction modes intrinsic to the process.

The subtraction argument aims to show that there is an empty world, in the sense of a possible world with no concrete objects. The argument has been endorsed by several philosophers. I show that there are currently two versions of the argument around, and that only one of them is valid.

Previous studies have observed inconsistent relations between the acuity of the Approximate Number System (ANS) and mathematical achievement. In this paper, we hypothesize that the relation between ANS acuity and mathematical achievement is influenced by

Exponential Renormalization II: Bogoliubov's R-operation and momentum subtraction schemes
This article aims at advancing the recently introduced exponential method for renormalisation in perturbative quantum field theory. It is shown that this new procedure provides a meaningful recursive scheme in the context of the algebraic and group ...

Dispersion theoretic calculation of the $H\rightarrow Z+\gamma$ amplitude
We have calculated the $W$-loop contribution to the amplitude of the decay $H\rightarrow Z+\gamma$ in two different methods: 1) in the $R_\xi$-gauge using dimensional regularization (DimReg), and 2) in the unitary gauge through the dispersion method ...

Integrated triple-collinear counter-terms for the nested soft-collinear subtraction scheme [PDF]
We obtain analytic results for integrated triple-collinear splitting functions that emerge as collinear counter-terms in the context of the nested soft-collinear subtraction scheme arXiv:1702.01352 . With these results, all integrated subtraction terms required for NNLO QCD computations within this scheme are known analytically.

Smooth quantum-classical transition in photon subtraction and addition processes
Recently Parigi et al. [Science 317, 1890 (2007)] implemented experimentally the photon subtraction and addition processes from/to a light field in a conditional way, when the required operations were produced successfully only upon the positive outcome ...
