Thermally Processable, Transparent, Mechanically Tunable and Robust Bioplastics From Wastepaper
Unlike conventional inefficient or low‐value wastepaper recycling, a directional transformation strategy is employed to convert whole wastepaper into intact bioplastics with tunable mechanical properties in our work. These bioplastics can be processed into flexible bags or rigid containers and exhibit high transparency, water resistance, repairability,

Control of Succinate Oxidation by Succinate‐Uptake by Rat‐Liver Mitochondria [PDF]
The uptake of succinate by mitochondria and the rate of respiration in the presence of succinate plus rotenone have been analysed. In conditions in which Vmax is the same, the apparent Km for succinate is lower when respiration is activated by ion uptake than it is in the active state. The highest value is obtained in the presence of 2,4‐dinitrophenol.

ABSTRACT High‐fat diet (HFD)‐induced hepatic injury represents a pathology observed across vertebrates, yet the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Herein, the present study identifies phosphatidylethanolamine methyltransferase (Pemt), a key enzyme in phosphatidylcholine synthesis, as a critical regulator of mitochondrial homeostasis ...

Enzymes involved in the anaerobic oxidation of n-alkanes: from methane to long-chain paraffins
Anaerobic microorganisms play key roles in the biogeochemical cycling of methane and non-methane alkanes. To date, there appear to be at least three proposed mechanisms of anaerobic methane oxidation (AOM). The first pathway is mediated by consortia of

Stereochemical Studies of the Exchange and Abstraction of Succinate Hydrogen on Succinate Dehydrogenase [PDF]
1 A soluble preparation of succinate dehydrogenase has been used to study the exchange of hydrogen between succinate and the medium. 2 Anaerobic exchange of hydrogen on this enzyme preparation was faster in the presence of fumarate. 3 When succinate was incubated anaerobically with the enzyme in deuterium oxide in the presence of [14C]fumarate,

Adipocyte Myoglobin Is a Determinant of Energy Expenditure and a Potential Target to Limit Obesity
Myoglobin, known as a muscle oxygen‐carrying protein, is shown to play a key role in fat cells that burn energy. Loss of myoglobin reduces the body's ability to generate heat and increases obesity risk, while restoring it improves metabolism. The study identifies myoglobin as a regulator of fat burning and a potential target to enhance energy ...
