Genetic variation of TLR4 influences immunoendocrine stress response: an observational study in cardiac surgical patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Introduction: Systemic inflammation (e.g. following surgery) involves Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling and leads to an endocrine stress response. This study aims to investigate a possible influence of TLR2 and TLR4 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs)

Olfactory enrichment mitigates delayed neurocognitive recovery after major orthopaedic surgery in older patients: A randomised controlled trial

open access: yesGeneral Psychiatry, Volume 39, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Delayed neurocognitive recovery (dNCR) is a prevalent complication in older patients undergoing surgery. It may progress to long‐term cognitive impairment and increase the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Aims This study aimed to evaluate the effects of olfactory enrichment on dNCR and to examine the association between olfactory ...

Premixed Lidocaine With Fospropofol Disodium for Safety and Clinical Evaluation Regarding Paresthesia Upon Fospropofol Disodium Injection: A Preclinical Experimental Study and a Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study explored the effect of lidocaine premixing on fospropofol‐induced paresthesia. While the mixture of fospropofol (FP) and lidocaine (LD) proved chemically stable and safe in preclinical tests, clinical results from randomized controlled trial showed no reduction in paresthesia in FP+LD group compared with FP+NS group.
