Fingerprinting of Semi‐Refined Flaxseed Protein Using Raman Spectroscopy and Multivariate Analysis: Pulsed Electric Field (PEF)‐Assisted Alkali and Aqueous Extraction Methods Alter Composition and Protein Conformation

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Structural changes in semi‐refined flaxseed protein extracts were effectively characterized using Raman spectroscopy coupled with PCA. The application of higher PEF energy enhanced hydrophobic interactions among aliphatic amino acids, while at lower PEF inputs, the extraction medium dictated secondary structure formation: α‐helices favored in aqueous ...

Synthesis of Heterotelechelic Poly(N‐ethylglycine) Polymers: from Polypeptoid Lipid Conjugates to Protein‐Polymer Conjugates

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Defined for conjugation. We report the synthesis of heterotelechelic poly(N‐ethylglycine) (pNEtGly) via acid‐catalyzed polymerization of high‐purity NCA monomers. The resulting polymers exhibit excellent end‐group fidelity and enable well‐defined, high‐purity protein and lipid conjugates.

Accurate measurement of sulfhydryls and TCEP-releasable sulfhydryls in the liquid phase of wine that contribute to ‘reductive’ aromas using LC-MS/MS

open access: yesHeliyon
Volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) are important aroma and flavour characters in food and beverage products. The identification and quantification of these extremely reactive and volatile compounds pose analytical challenges which demand selective and ...

Review of the potential of bioactive compounds in seaweed to reduce histamine formation in fish and fish products

open access: yesItalian Journal of Food Safety
The formation of histamine in food is influenced by temperature, and histamine growth can be inhibited by maintaining a cold chain. However, simply relying on temperature control is insufficient, as certain bacteria can produce the enzyme histidine ...

Functional characterization of a glutamate/aspartate transporter from the mosquito Aedes aegypti [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Glutamate elicits a variety of effects in insects, including inhibitory and excitatory signals at both neuromuscular junctions and brain. Insect glutamatergic neurotransmission has been studied in great depth especially from the standpoint of the ...
