The role of per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances in cognitive impairment and dementia

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are ubiquitous persistent organic pollutants. The neurotoxic and cardiometabolic effects of PFAS are well documented, leading to the hypothesis that exposure increases dementia risk. However, empirical data on PFAS in relation to cognitive impairment and dementia are weak, limited, and inconsistent ...

pH‐Directed Capture‐SELEX for Nanomolar Affinity Aptamers for Kanamycin Detection

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2025.
Considering the four pKa values of kanamycin A being all close to 7, two parallel SELEX experiments were carried out at pH 6 and 8. The pH 6 selection yielded a kanamycin aptamer with nanomolar affinity, which was used for fluorescent biosensor development.

Palladium‐Catalyzed [3+2] Cycloadditions of Alkylidenecyclopropanes to Imines: A Direct Approach to Pyrrolidine Scaffolds

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 3, Issue 3, May 2025.
Pd‐catalyzed annulations of ACPs with different C=N partners in both inter‐ and intramolecular ways are described. The methods provide access to pyrrolidines and pyrrolidine‐fused polycyclic systems, featuring β‐exo‐methylene moieties. Preliminary enantioselective variant has been shown by using a chiral phosphoramidite ligand and DFT studies shed ...

Skeletal Rearrangements of Amides via Breaking Inert Bonds

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 25, May 5, 2025.
This review highlights advances in amide skeletal rearrangement reactions over the past two decades, categorized by the initial bond cleavages: C─N bond cleavage, C─C bond cleavage, and C═O bond activation. It summarizes emerging strategies, mechanistic insights, and synthetic applications, providing a focused perspective on recent developments in this

Continuous Titration Based Method for Rapid In‐Solution Analysis of Non‐Covalent Interactions

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 5, Issue 5, May 2025.
This work presents cSPRING, which combines Taylor dispersion with ratiometric fluorescence detection to measure binding affinities (Kd) in a single experiment. This in‐solution method reduces sample preparation time 8‐fold, requires only nanograms of protein, and provides results in under a minute, demonstrating efficiency for screening protein‐small ...

Augmenting the Anti‐Leukemic Activity of the BCL‐2 Inhibitor Venetoclax Through Its Transformation Into Polypharmacologic Dual BCL‐2/HDAC1 and Dual BCL‐2/HDAC6 Inhibitors

open access: yesDrug Development Research, Volume 86, Issue 3, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Motivated by the anti‐leukemic synergy between histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors and the FDA‐approved BCL‐2 inhibitor venetoclax, coupled with our interests in polypharmacology, we sought to bolster the anti‐leukemic efficacy of the clinical drug by grafting HDAC1‐selective or HDAC6‐selective inhibitor motifs onto a solvent‐accessible ...
