Resistance Rapid Heating of Aluminum Coatings in an Extreme High Vacuum–Adequate Atmosphere for Hot Stamping

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 12, 17 June 2026.
The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Electron Donor–Acceptor Mediated Hydrosulfonylation of Olefins From N‐Hydroxymethylphthalimide Sulfones

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 12, 17 June 2026.
Electron donor–acceptor complex formation between tertiary amines and N‐hydroxymethylphthalimide sulfones enables photocatalyst‐free hydrosulfonylation of olefins through light‐induced sulfinyl radical generation. Sulfones are widely used sulfur‐VI motifs in pharmaceuticals.

Site‐Selective Functionalization of Cysteine Units in Peptides Through Meerwein Arylation Reactions Under Mild Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 12, 17 June 2026.
α‐Methylstyrenes are known as highly efficient scavengers for aryl radicals. Herein, a bifunctional reagent is introduced that merges a 2‐bromoacyl moiety for thiol coupling with a styrene unit for subsequent radical functionalization. The sequential transformations proceed under mild conditions, enabling selective cysteine modification in peptidic ...

Aldehyde–Olefin Couplings by Photoinduced Reduction of Electron‐Deficient Olefins with Hantzsch Ester Anions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 25, 15 June 2026.
Single‐electron transfer‐mediated reductive carbonyl–olefin couplings are valuable carbon–carbon bond forming reactions. However, limitations persist for couplings of aliphatic aldehydes with electron‐deficient olefins. Here, we report a simple, photocatalyst‐free protocol that overcomes these limitations by using a Hantzsch ester anion as a ...

Electroreductive Desulfurization of Thioacetals

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 12, 17 June 2026.
A metal‐free electrochemical protocol enabled desulfurization of thioacetals under ambient conditions. Aryl substituents on sulfur act as internal electroauxiliaries to promote C(sp3)─S bond cleavage via a radical pathway, effectively serving as alternative to the Mozingo reduction.
