Tunable Thermoshrinkable Hydrogels for 4D Fabrication of Cell‐Seeded Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermoresponsive polymer with methacrylate groups for photo‐cross‐linking, based on polyethylene glycol, N‐isopropylacrylamide, and 2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate is synthetized to yield hydrogels that shrink upon temperature increase. The new polymer enables the fabrication of cell‐laden perfusable channels with diameters below 200 µm by combining ...

Fully Bio‐Based Epoxy Resins from Liquefied Wood for Chemically Recyclable Wood Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐based and chemically recyclable epoxy resin derived from liquefied wood and its use in wood coatings is presented. The resin exhibits mechanical, thermal, and water‐resistant properties comparable to commercial coatings and can be chemically recycled and reused. This approach provides fast access to glossy and fully biobased durable wood coatings

Sulfide, Sulfoxide, and Sulfone Derivatives of Usnic Acid as Inhibitors of Human TDP1 and TDP2 Enzymes

open access: yesChemistry
Tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterases 1 and 2 (TDP1 and TDP2) are important DNA repair enzymes that remove various adducts from the 3′- and 5′-ends of DNA, respectively.

Double Cross‐Linked Hydrogel for Intra‐articular Injection as Modality for Macrophages Metabolic Reprogramming and Therapy of Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel for intra‐articular injection for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is formulated and comprehensively studied. After administration, the hydrogel induces a metabolic reprogramming of immunometabolism of macrophages to trigger fatty acid oxidation subsequently inducing polarization of anti‐inflammatory M2 macrophages. This results in

In Situ Synthesis of Hexadentate Cyclometalated Ir(III) Complexes as Photocatalysts for the Oxidation of Sulfides into Sulfoxides in Water

open access: yesInorganics
The aerobic photooxidation of sulfides into sulfoxides in eco-friendly solvents, notably water, at room temperature, represents a significant interest in the domain of synthetic chemistry.

Transmembrane Activation of Catalysis and Protein Refolding in Synthetic Cells by Enzymes and Nanozymes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Synthetic cells are engineered herein to respond to an external chemical messenger by the activation of intracellular catalysis. The chemical messenger molecules are catalytically generated by an extracellular enzyme or a mineral surface, whereas the intracellular catalysis emerges via direct enzyme activation or via protein refolding.

Effects of Conjugation and Aromaticity on the Sulfoxide Bond [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
An ab initio computational study on a series of sulfoxides is reported. The SO bond dissociation energy (BDE) of sulfoxides in which the sulfur atom is included in a formally aromatic ring (e.g., thiophene sulfoxide) is found to be decreased by as much ...
