A Novel, Facile and Selective Synthesis of Sulfoxides Catalyzed by CuFe2O4/PEO-SO3H as a Reusable Heterogeneous Nanocatalyst [PDF]

open access: yesNanochemistry Research
In the present work, poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) coated sulfonated copper ferrite nanoparticles were successfully used as an efficient, green, easy-to-use, magnetic, reusable, bimetallic, environment-friendly, and heterogeneous solid acid catalyst in the ...

Transient Sulfenic Acids in the Synthesis of Biologically Relevant Products

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Sulfenic acids as small molecules are too unstable to be isolated and their transient nature offers the possibility to involve them in concerted processes that lead to the obtainment of functional groups such as sulfoxides, sulfones, and disulfides.

NaSH-HCl mediated reduction of sulfoxides into sulfides under organic solvent-free reaction conditions

open access: yesGreen Chemistry Letters and Reviews, 2020
NaSH·H2O and 37% aqueous solution of HCl were employed in reduction of sulfoxides to sulfides at room or elevated temperature in the absence of organic reducing agent and solvent-free reaction conditions. Operationally simple transformation took place in

Synthesis of enantioenriched sulfoxides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This review discusses strategies for the asymmetric synthesis of sulfoxides, compounds with many applications in stereoselective synthesis and in some cases with pharmaceutical application.

Asymmetric oxidation of sulfides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This review discusses synthesis of enantiopure sulfoxides through the asymmetric oxidation of prochiral sulfides. The use of metal complexes to promote asymmetric sulfoxidation is described in detail, with a particular emphasis on the synthesis of ...

Influence of Sulfoxide Group Placement on Polypeptide Conformational Stability. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The synthesis of a homologous series containing five new nonionic sulfoxide containing polypeptides was described. Sulfoxide groups bestowed water solubility for all homologues, which allowed their use as a model for study of helix-coil transitions in ...

4-Hydroxyacetophenone monooxygenase from Pseudomonas fluorescens ACB as an oxidative biocatalyst in the synthesis of optically active sulfoxides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Recombinant 4-hydroxyacetophenone monooxygenase (HAPMO) from Pseudomonas fluorescens ACB has been tested as a catalyst in sulfoxidation reactions on a set of aromatic sulfides.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Urea–hydrogen peroxide prompted the selective and controlled oxidation of thioglycosides into sulfoxides and sulfones

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2017
A practical method for the selective and controlled oxidation of thioglycosides to corresponding glycosyl sulfoxides and sulfones is reported using urea–hydrogen peroxide (UHP). A wide range of glycosyl sulfoxides are selectively achieved using 1.5 equiv
