Isotopic fractionations accompanying sulfur hydrolysis.

open access: yesGEOCHEMICAL JOURNAL, 2000
In the direct hydrolysis of elemental sulfur, immediate precipitation of the sulfide as the copper salt allows measurement of the initial sulfur isotopic compositions of product sulfide and sulfate. δ34S values for product sulfide and sulfate and for parent elemental sulfur at reaction temperatures of 50 to 200°C differ by less than 3‰ and demonstrate ...

Interfacial Control in Cu–MXene Hybrids Enables Selective NOx‐to‐NH3 Electroconversion: A Critical Review

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cu‐MXene interfacial catalysts provide a promising platform for electrochemical NOx upcycling to ammonia. The synergy between Cu active sites and conductive, surface‐tunable MXene supports promotes NOx adsorption, intermediate stabilization, and selective NH3 formation while suppressing competing hydrogen evolution, offering a route toward sustainable ...

Sulfur isotope analyses of individual aerosol particles in the urban aerosol at a central European site (Mainz, Germany) [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2008
Sulfur isotope analysis of atmospheric aerosols is a well established tool for identifying sources of sulfur in the atmosphere, estimating emission factors, and tracing the spread of sulfur from anthropogenic sources through ecosystems.

Nickel Isotope Fractionation During Magmatic Differentiation

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2023
The behavior of nickel (Ni) isotopes during magmatic differentiation is not adequately explored. Here, we find that tholeiitic rocks in the Kīlauea Iki (KI) lava lake, Hawai'i, show progressively lighter Ni isotopic compositions with increasing magmatic ...

Fractionation of sulfur isotopes in the preparation of sulfur dioxide. An improved technique for the precision analysis of stable sulfur isotopes

open access: yesGEOCHEMICAL JOURNAL, 1966
It is definitely shown that the main cause of error encountered in the precision isotope analysis of sulfur is in the isotope exchange reaction between SO2 and SO3 during the combustion process of SO2 preparation. The isotope fractionation factor between the two oxides is estimated to be 1.0035 at 1200°C.

Safety of Sodium‐Ion Batteries: Evaluation and Perspective from Component Materials to Cells, Modules, and Packs

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides a bottom‐up evaluation of sodium‐ion battery safety, linking material degradation mechanisms, cell engineering parameters, and module/pack assembly. It emphasizes that understanding intrinsic material stability and establishing coordinated engineering control across hierarchical levels are vital for preventing degradation coupling ...

Emerging Materials and Future Strategies for Solid Oxide Electrochemical Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Solid oxide electrochemical cells operate under strongly coupled electrochemical and thermodynamic conditions, where performance is constrained by interactions among crystal structure, defect chemistry, and interfacial evolution. This review, based on a structure‐defect‐property‐durability framework, reveals the roles of lattice symmetry and defect ...

Sulfur Isotope Constraints on the Petrogenesis of the Kimberley Kimberlites

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2021
Cretaceous kimberlites in southern Africa have been suggested to host deeply subducted material in their mantle sources based on radiogenic isotope systematics. However, potential subducted material contributions to the volatile budget, including sulfur,
