Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Bounds for the stop-loss distance of an independent random sum via Stein's method

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
Let $ W = X_1+X_2+\cdots + X_N $ be a random sum and $ Z $ be the standard normal random variable. In this paper, we investigated uniform and non-uniform bounds of the stop-loss distance, which measures the difference between two random variables, $ W ...

A Novel Stochastic Model for IRS-Assisted Communication Systems Based on the Sum-Product of Nakagami-m Random Variables [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
This paper presents exact formulas for the probability distribution function (PDF) and moment generating function (MGF) of the sum-product of statistically independent but not necessarily identically distributed (i.n.i.d.) Nakagami-m random variables ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

A Lundberg-type inequality for an inhomogeneous renewal risk model

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications, 2015
We obtain a Lundberg-type inequality in the case of an inhomogeneous renewal risk model. We consider the model with independent, but not necessarily identically distributed, claim sizes and the interoccurrence times.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Limit theorems for random Dirichlet series: boundary case

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications
Buraczewski et al. (2023) proved a functional limit theorem (FLT) and a law of the iterated logarithm (LIL) for a random Dirichlet series ${\textstyle\sum _{k\ge 2}}\frac{{(\log k)^{\alpha }}}{{k^{1/2+s}}}{\eta _{k}}$ as $s\to 0+$, where $\alpha \gt -1/2$
