Proteome Analysis of Corynebacterium diphtheriae–Macrophage Interaction
ABSTRACT Contact of Corynebacterium diphtheriae with macrophages induces adaptations on both bacterial and cellular sides. The study presented here was aiming to shed light on the simultaneous intracellular adaptation of the bacteria and changes in the proteome of the phagocytes in response to the internalization of C. diphtheriae.

TRIM5α is a SUMO substrate [PDF]
The TRIM5α restriction factor interferes with retroviral infections by inhibiting an early step of viral replication. TRIM5α activity was recently proposed to be regulated by the SUMO machinery and one SUMO consensus conjugation site as well as three putative SUMO interacting motifs (SIMs) were identified within TRIM5α sequence. Whereas mutation of the

More π, less Gap: Band Gap Tuning in Hybrid Antimony Halide Charge Transfer Semiconductors
Extending the π‐conjugation of the organic cation from bipyridinium to phenanthrolinium in hybrid antimony chloride charge transfer semiconductors reduces the band gap from 2.6 to 2.1 eV. This demonstrates that modifying the organic cation's π‐system enables band gap tuning in hybrid charge transfer semiconductors.

SUMO and SUMOylation in Plants [PDF]
The traditional focus on the central dogma of molecular biology, from gene through RNA to protein, has now been replaced by the recognition of an additional mechanism. The new regulatory mechanism, post-translational modifications to proteins, can actively alter protein function or activity introducing additional levels of functional complexity by ...

Domain Modeling in the Context of Ontology
The domain knowledge represented by ontology should be widely used in the design process of information system. The aim of the paper is to outline a systematic approach of developing a CIM model (domain model, precisely) on the basis of a selected domain

Compartmentalisation in cAMP signalling: A phase separation perspective
Cells rely on precise spatiotemporal control of signalling pathways to ensure functional specificity. The compartmentalisation of cyclic AMP (cAMP) and protein kinase A (PKA) signalling enables distinct cellular responses within a crowded cytoplasmic space.

Pyridoxal 5′‐phosphate (PLP) homeostasis relies on salvage enzymes, yet key metabolic branches remain undefined. We identify AKR1C isozymes as previously undescribed contributors that convert pyridoxal into pyridoxine or 4‐pyridoxolactone through reductase and dehydrogenase activities.

SUMOylation of nuclear actin [PDF]
Actin, a major component of the cytoplasm, is also abundant in the nucleus. Nuclear actin is involved in a variety of nuclear processes including transcription, chromatin remodeling, and intranuclear transport.
