Adapting Image‐Based Models for 1D Data via Spider Plot Transformation and Transfer Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A novel method enables the use of pretrained image‐based neural networks for complex 1D data, including Raman and mid‐infrared spectra, electrocardiograms, and mass spectrometry. 2D spider plots with false‐color fill enable transfer lerning, therefore enhancing data augmentation and model explainability across diverse spectral and time series datasets.

Harnessing halophyte‐derived allelochemicals and signaling molecules to enhance salinity tolerance in crops

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Soil salinization is a growing global challenge that significantly reduces agricultural productivity by impairing seed germination, growth, and yield. While conventional crops have limited tolerance to high salinity, halophytes are promising biological models for developing strategies to sustain agriculture in saline environments and ...

Synthesis of Crosslinked Biopolyesters Catalyzed by Natural Amino Acids

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Highly crosslinked bio‐polyesters were synthesized via the ROCOP reaction between epoxidized sunflower oil and biobased cyclic anhydrides. The resulting materials were comprehensively characterized by FT‐IR, TGA, and DSC. A cross‐linked network in the bio‐based polymers has been confirmed by dynamic mechanical analysis.

Shifts in the abiotic and biotic environment of cultivated sunflower under future climate change☆

open access: yesOilseeds and fats, crops and lipids, 2019
Sunflower is a unique model species for assessing crop responses and adaptation to climate change. We provide an initial assessment of how climate change may influence the abiotic and biotic environment of cultivated sunflower across the world.

Stability and Release Characteristics of Core‐Shell Beads with Emulsion Core Under Gastrointestinal Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
A combined emulsion–core‐shell structure system is developed for targeted delivery of lipophilic compounds to the proximal intestine. Using vitamin D3‐loaded sunflower oil emulsions, the core‐shell structure enhances droplet stability, encapsulation efficiency, and gastric protection.

A Comparative Study of Shea Stearin Crystallization in Rapeseed Oil and Octyldodecanol: Effects on Crystallization Kinetics, Polymorphism, and Structural Properties

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This work examines the crystallization, polymorphism, and mechanical properties of the stearin fraction of shea butter (Butyrospermum parkii) blended with two liquid diluents: rapeseed oil and octyldodecanol. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), texture analysis, and polarized light microscopy were used to assess ...

Sunflower resistance to the sunflower moth

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1977
The sunflower moth (Homoeosoma electellum Hulst.) will probably never be put on the endangered species list, but many California farmers would iike to see it as extinct as the dinosaurs because of the damage it does to the sunflower crop.
