Under DC voltage, the interface charge of the spacer in gas-insulated metal-enclosed transmission lines (GIL) and gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear (GIS) is prone to accumulate, and the charge is an important factor to induce surface flashover.

The surface charge accumulation on polymers often leads to surface flashover. Current solutions are mainly based on the introduction of inorganic fillers. The high-cost process and low compatibility remain formidable challenges.

Surface-charge accumulation and clustering in fluorites
Solid State Ionics, 1983Abstract Comparative Thermally Stimulated Polarization and Depolarization studies have been carried out on SrF 2 crystals doped with lanthanum up to molar concentrations of 5x10 −2 and to temperatures of 500K. The first three peaks, attributed to nearest-neighbour dipoles and to clusters built with this basic unit (L-shaped La 3+ -F i2 − and the ...

Mechanisms of surface charge accumulation in SF6
Archiv für Elektrotechnik, 1994Special geometries of electrodes were designed to determine the dominant mechanism of surface charge accumulation. It was found that the charge transport in the gas is dominant, and consequently, the normal field at spacer surfaces as well as the ionization behaviour at electrode surfaces play important roles in charge accumulation in SF6.

Surface-Charge-Dependent Nanoparticles Accumulation in Inflamed Skin
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2012Polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) are interesting drug carriers for dermal application and drug targeting to certain skin structures. NP interactions with diseased skin and the associated benefits and risks have been hardly explored. Today, we study the behavior of polymeric NPs for selective drug delivery to inflamed skin.

The Effect of PD Process on the Accumulation of Surface Charges
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2016The distribution of surface charges at the interface between gas and insulating material relates to the partial discharge process in a void. In order to clarify this, a 2-D model is constructed in this paper. Based on this, the streamer development and the accumulating process of surface charges are obtained under both polarities of the applied voltage.

Surface charge accumulation on HVDC-GIS-spacer
Conference Record of the the 2002 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation (Cat. No.02CH37316), 2003The paper deals with the surface charge accumulation on spacers of gas-insulated substations (GIS) applied to HVDC. The surface charge accumulation on solid insulators is a major problem of HVDC systems because it distorts the field distribution and reduces the breakdown voltage.
