Compressive Behavior for Surface-Nanocrystallized Al-Alloy Material [PDF]
ABSTRACTMechanical behavior of the surface-nanocrystallized material fabricated by the ultrasonic shot peening method is investigated experimentally and theoretically. In the experimental research, based on microscopic observations, the compressive specimens are designed and machined considering the material features, and the compressive experiments ...

Enhanced initial biodegradation resistance of the biomedical Mg-Cu alloy by surface nanomodification
Mg-Cu alloys are promising antibacterial implant materials. However, their clinical applications have been impeded by their high initial biodegradation rate, which can be alleviated using nanotechnology by for example surface nanomodification to obtain a

Effect of surface nanocrystallization on corrosion behaviour of coated steel in chloride solution
A nanocrystalline (NC) layer was fabricated on the surface of the low-alloy steel 15CrMo using high-energy shot peening. Two kinds of conversion coatings including the chemical conversion coating and electrochemical conversion coating were separately ...

Influence of surface nanocrystallization on running-in and wearing properties of medium carbon steel
In order to study how running-in affects surface nanocrystallization of medium carbon steel, running-in and wearing tests were conducted, while under lubrication, using a ring-on-disc tester.

Nanocrystallized Surface Effect on the Tribocorrosion Behavior of AISI 420
Nanopeening treatment was applied to the AISI 420 steel to decrease its sensitivity to tribocorrosion damage. The microstructural investigation highlighted that the nanopeening treatment led to high plastic deformation and a nanostructured surface layer with a 110 µm depth.

Nitriding of nanocrystalline pure Fe induced by surface mechanical attrition treatment
Properties of nanocrystalline (nc) materials are different from, and often superior to those of conventional coarse-grained counterparts. Unfortunately, it is still difficult to obtain “ideal” (e.g. full-density, residual stress-free, flaw-free, porosity-

A local‐biasing system using AFM induces site‐specific threshold switching in Ge0.17Te0.83 films, enabling direct observation of crystalline/amorphous interface formation. First‐principles calculations reveal that this structural change induces Te 5p‐dominated mid‐gap states and electric field‐enhanced charge redistribution.
