Avrami exponent under transient and heterogeneous nucleation transformation conditions
The Kolmogorov-Johnson-Mehl-Avrami model for isothermal transformation kinetics is universal under specific assumptions. However, the experimental Avrami exponent deviates from the universal value.

Nanocrystallized Surface Effect on the Tribocorrosion Behavior of AISI 420
Nanopeening treatment was applied to the AISI 420 steel to decrease its sensitivity to tribocorrosion damage. The microstructural investigation highlighted that the nanopeening treatment led to high plastic deformation and a nanostructured surface layer with a 110 µm depth.

Nitriding of nanocrystalline pure Fe induced by surface mechanical attrition treatment
Properties of nanocrystalline (nc) materials are different from, and often superior to those of conventional coarse-grained counterparts. Unfortunately, it is still difficult to obtain “ideal” (e.g. full-density, residual stress-free, flaw-free, porosity-

Effects of surfaces nanocrystallization induced by shot peening on material properties : a Review [PDF]
A brief description of surface nanosrystallization process via severe plastic deformation is presented. To come to the point different shot peening methods which have proved to be able to create nanocrystalline layers are demonstrated clarifying the ...

The mechanism of surface nanocrystallization during plasma nitriding
Abstract Motivated by the observation of in-situ nanocrystallization in the surface layer of plasma nitrided steels, this work is carried out to establish a thermodynamic model that describes the Gibbs free energy of BCC-Fe solution using the quasi-binary solution model.
