Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Surface properties and corrosion resistance of SF6 plasma-treated polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer

open access: yes, 2018
Copolyester thermoplastic elastomers (COPE) have interesting mechanical properties but low chemical resistance in aggressive environments. Developing a treatment that would increase their chemical resistance while preserving their convenient bulk ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

ELECTRONIC SPECTROSCOPY STUDIES OF A P2S5NH4OH TREATED GAS(100) SURFACE

open access: yes, 1992
Microscopic characteristics of the GaAs(100) surface treated with P2S5/NH4OH solution has been investigated by using Auger-electron spectroscopy (AES) and x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS). AES reveals that only phosphorus and sulfur, but not oxygen,

Aging Effect of Plasma-Treated Carbon Fiber Surface: From an Engineering Point

open access: yes
Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma surface modification has certain aging effect. This article studies the aging effect of plasma (DBD) on the surface modification of carbon fibers.

Flame retardancy of wood treated by TiO2/ZnO coating

open access: yes, 2012
In this work, one-pot hydrothermal method was used for modifying a wood surface by the deposition of TiO2/ZnO coating at a relatively low temperature. The prepared wood samples were characterised using SEM, energy dispersive X-ray analysis and powder X ...

Surface evaluation of alkali-heat treated Ti-6Al-4V implants: Machined versus additive-manufactured

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Research
Objectives: This study aimed to compare the effects of alkali-heat treatment on the surface characteristics of titanium dental implants (Ti-6Al-4V) produced by two different fabrication methods—subtractive machining and additive manufacturing using laser

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

High temperature wear and friction properties of duplex surface treated bearing steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Duplex treatments by thermo reactive diffusion (TRD) chromizing and puls plasma nitriding were carried out on AISI 52100 and 8620 bearing steels. Tribological behaviors of TRD chromized and duplex treated bearing steels were investigated against A1203 ...
