Electromechanical properties of polyamide/lycra fabric treated with PEDOT:PSS

open access: yes, 2017
One of the challenges in smart textiles is to develop suitable multifunctional materials that can address simultaneously several characteristics such as durability, stretchability, lightweight, and conductivity.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Study on properties of composites reinforced by heat treated glass fibres simulating thermal recycling conditions

open access: yes, 2013
In the present study, commercial chopped glass fibres were heat treated at 300°C, 450°C, 500°C and 600°C to imitate a composite thermal recycling process.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Surface Substructure and Properties of ZrB2p/6061Al Composite Treated by Laser Surface Melting under Extreme Cooling Conditions

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2017
Particulate reinforcement composite ZrB2p/6061Al was fabricated from Al-K2ZrF6-KBF4 by a direct melt reaction. Laser surface melting was used to improve the surface strength of the in situ ZrB2p/6061Al composite, which includes a series of laser-melted ...

Nanoscale investigations of surface phenomena in the water teatment industry using the atomic force microscope [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Understanding the interaction between surfaces at the intermolecular level in ambient conditions is not only a fundamental science, but is of increasing value to water treatment systems.

Surface functionalization of medical-grade polyvinyl chloride treated with ammonia plasma

open access: yesResults in Surfaces and Interfaces
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is often the material of choice for the synthesis of various components used in medical practice, particularly catheters. As-synthesized components may not exhibit appropriate biocompatibility, so the surface should be modified ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Do contaminants originating from state-of-the-art treated wastewater impact the ecological quality of surface waters?

open access: yes, 2013
Since the 1980s, advances in wastewater treatment technology have led to considerably improved surface water quality in the urban areas of many high income countries.
