Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Limits of nodal surfaces and applications

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma
Let $\mathcal {X}\to \mathbb {D}$ be a flat family of projective complex 3-folds over a disc $\mathbb {D}$ with smooth total space $\mathcal {X}$ and smooth general fibre $\mathcal {X}_t,$ and whose special fiber $\mathcal

On the moduli of surfaces admitting genus 2 fibrations

open access: yes, 2002
We investigate the structure of the components of the moduli space Of Surfaces of general type, which parametrize surfaces admitting nonsmooth genus 2 fibrations of nonalbanese type, over curves of genus g(b) greater than or equal to ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Topology and dynamics of Levi-flats in surfaces of general type

open access: yes, 2016
29 pagesInternational audienceWe focus on the topology and dynamics of minimal sets and Levi-flats in surfaces of general type. Our method relies on the ergodic theory of Riemann surfaces laminations: we use harmonic measures and Lyapunov exponents.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

SLOWNESS SURFACE CALCULATION FOR DIFFERENT MEDIA USING THE SYMBOLIC MATHEMATICS LANGUAGE MAPLE®

open access: yesEarth Sciences Research Journal, 2004
Starting from the equation in different media, we obtain the different type of waves that can exists in such media. The evaluation of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors let us construct the slowness surfaces. In general complex calculations case have to be

Type II duality symmetries in six dimensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We discuss the different discrete duality symmetries in six dimensions that act within and between (i) the 10-dimensional heterotic string compactified on T^4, (ii) the 10-dimensional type IIA string compactified on K3 and (iii) the 10-dimensional type ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Surfaces of general type with pg = q = 1, K2 = 8 and bicanonical map of degree 2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We classify the minimal algebraic surfaces of general type with p g = q = 1, K2 = 8 and bicanonical map of degree 2. It will turn out that they are isogenous to a product of curves, i.e. if S is such a surface, then there exist two smooth curves C, F and
