Surfactant Protein D (SP‐D) and Systemic Scleroderma (SSc)
The Journal of Dermatology, 2001AbstractWe measured serum levels of SP‐D in collagen diseases (110 cases) such as systemic scleroderma (SSc), scleroderma spectrum disorders (SSD), systemic lupus erythematodes (SLE), Sjögren syndrome (Sjs), dermatomyositis (DM), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and dermatitis (DE) (109 cases) as a control.

Surfactant proteins D and A in sputum.
European journal of medical research, 2001The surfactant proteins SP-D and SP-A are collectins and central components of the innate immune system of the peripheral lungs. They bind to carbohydrates on microorganisms and promote their removal. In the larger airways their role and concentrations are not yet known.

Lung Surfactant Proteins A and D in Innate Immune Defense
Neonatology, 2000The lung surfactant proteins (SP) A and D are large multimeric proteins and belong to a family of collagenous C-type lectins designated collectins. Both SP-A and SP-D are believed to play a role in the innate immunity of the lung. SP-A and SP-D bind to a broad spectrum of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeasts but also ...

Surfactant protein D: not just for the lung anymore
American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 2008in their article, Snyder et al. ([5][1]) provide compelling data that arterial smooth muscle cells of the vessel wall express surfactant protein D (SP-D) and that the expression of SP-D attenuates the release of IL-8 stimulated by LPS and TNF-α.
