Surrogate based design optimization of multi-band antenna

open access: yes, 2021
In this work, design optimization process of a multiband antenna via the use of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based surrogate model and meta-heuristic optimizers is studied. For this mean firstly, by using Latin-Hyper cube sampling method a data set based on 3D full wave EM simulator is generated to train an ANN based model.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Groundwater Pollution Source Identification via an Integrated Surrogate Model and Multiobjective Heuristic Optimization Algorithms

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Simulation‐optimization methods are commonly used in groundwater pollution source identification. Traditional simulation‐optimization methods require multiple calls to the numerical model, which leads to a considerable computational burden.

Design Optimization Utilizing Dynamic Substructuring and Artificial Intelligence Techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In mechanical and structural systems, resonance may cause large strains and stresses which can lead to the failure of the system. Since it is often not possible to change the frequency content of the external load excitation, the phenomenon can only be ...

A Derivative-Free Trust-Region Algorithm for Reliability-Based Optimization

open access: yes, 2016
In this note, we present a derivative-free trust-region (TR) algorithm for reliability based optimization (RBO) problems. The proposed algorithm consists of solving a set of subproblems, in which simple surrogate models of the reliability constraints are

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Volute Optimization Based on Self-Adaption Kriging Surrogate Model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2022
Optimizing the volute performance can effectively improve the efficiency of a centrifugal fan by changing the volute geometric parameter, so the self-adaption Kriging surrogate model is used to optimize the volute geometric parameter.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.
