Mannosidase, glucosidase, and galactosidase in sweet almond emulsin
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1970Abstract Alpha- d -mannosidase from sweet almond emulsin was purified by ion exchange chromatography on CM-cellulose or by electrofocusing technique. The properties of of the purified almond emulsin β- d -mannosidase were also studied. Several components of β- d -glucosidase were present in sweet almond emulsin.

Increasing productivity in sweet almond using selected clones of bitter almond
Euphytica, 1985Eight controlled crosses were made between seven different sweet-kerneled almond cultivars (Prunus dulcis [Mill.] D. A. Webb), and five crosses were made between sweet x highly floriferous bitter almond clones. Sweet x bitter progenies out-yielded the sweet x sweet matings by more than three to one in the first year of production. This was attributable

Characterization of an Isozyme of β‐Glucosidase from Sweet Almond
Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society, 1997AbstractA sweet almond β‐glucosidase (EC 3.2.1.21) isozyme was purified from commercial crude product. The process of purification consisted of a Protein‐Pak Q anion exchange chromatography following by a Superdex 75 HR gel filtration separation. The purified enzyme is a monomeric glycoprotein with molecular weight of 58 kDa and pI=4.55 which is ...

4 Final Report on the Safety Assessment of Sweet Almond Oil and Almond Meal
Journal of the American College of Toxicology, 1983Sweet Almond Oil is used as an emollient and emulsifier in cosmetic products. Almond Meal is used as a skin cleanser and in medicated soaps. Pharmacological studies reveal that Sweet Almond Oil is absorbed slowly through intact skin, whereas it is easily absorbed and digested following oral administration.

Inhibition, transgalactosylation and mechanism of action of sweet almond α-galactosidase
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1969Abstract The presence of essential catalytic groups in sweet almond α-galactosidase (α- d -galactoside galactohydrolase, EC 3.2.1.22) has been investigated with the use of metal ions and photo-oxidation. Competitive inhibition was shown to occur with both Hg2+ and Ag+.

[Substrate specificity of sweet almond beta-glucosidase].
Biokhimiia (Moscow, Russia), 1977Beta-Glucosidase, beta-galactosidase, beta-xylosidase and alpha-L-arabinosidase activities of partially purified preparation of almond emulsin were investigated using chromatography, electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gel and isoelectric focusing. Beta-Glucosidase was found to exist as two components having equal molecular weight.

Transgalactosylation activity of sweet almond α-galactosidase: Synthesis of saccharides
Phytochemistry, 1979Abstract Sweet almond α-galactosidase (α- d -galactoside galactohydrolase, EC 3.2.1.22) catalyses hydrolytic, synthetic ( de novo ) and transfer reactions. Transfer products were formed using p -nitrophenyl α- d -galactoside as the galactosyl donor and glucose, galactose, sucrose, maltose and lactose as acceptors; several of the products were ...

[Fat embolism after intrapenile injection of sweet almond oil].
Revue des maladies respiratoires, 1998We report a case of fat embolism following self injection of vegetable oil in the penis, to treat an impotence. The patient developed respiratory failure and neurological disorders as confusion. A chest roentgenogram revealed diffuse alveolar infiltrate. Initially, he presented an hemoconcentration, and fat globules in his urine.
