Integrating Intensity Scaling Into Consumer Free Listing to Describe the Sensory Attributes of Potato Chips

open access: yesJournal of Sensory Studies, Volume 41, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to introduce a consumer‐based sensory evaluation method, Free Listing with Scale (FLS), grounded in a cognitive psychology framework suggesting that analytical processing enhances the discrimination of sensory attributes. The study also sought to conduct a methodological comparison between FLS and conventional free listing ...

A taste of pepper: genetics, biochemistry and prediction of sweet pepper flavor

open access: yes
This PhD project started with the composition of a diverse panel of genotypes that represented, (i) roughly the flavor variation in the commercial Capsicum annuum breeding program of Rijk Zwaan, (ii) parents of available mapping populations and (iii) some genotypes that were expected to have extraordinary flavors.

Guardians or Gateways? The Intricate Relationship Between Plant Cell Walls and Pathogenic Xanthomonas

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
An overview of the intricate interactions between Xanthomonas and the plant cell wall during the infection process. ABSTRACT Plants have evolved a complex cell wall (CW) providing support and protection against environmental constraints, including constant attacks from pests and pathogens.

An antiviral jacalin‐like lectin gene contributes to nonhost resistance and host determination of potexviruses among Brassicaceae

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 5, Page 3283-3298, June 2026.
Summary Plant resistance influences the host range of pathogens; however, the mechanism driving this influence remains poorly understood. Brassicaceae species are not natural hosts of potexviruses, for reasons that have not yet been determined. This study investigated the molecular basis of nonhost resistance (NHR) to potexviruses in the Brassicaceae ...
