Mutation Breeding Research in Sweet Pepper

2023
Sweet pepper is delicious, loved, and an increasingly popular nutritional vegetable that is grown and produced in significant amounts throughout the world and especially in the northern hemisphere. Such wide distribution places the demand on the crop to be able to grow in rather diverse environmental conditions. The process of natural adaptation can be

Sweet pepper maturity evaluation

Advances in Animal Biosciences, 2017
This paper focuses on maturity evaluation derived by a color camera for a sweet pepper robotic harvester. Different color and morphological features for sweet pepper maturity were evaluated. Side view and bottom view of sweet paper were analyzed and compared for their ability to classify into 4 maturity classes.

Pepper, Sweet (Capsicum annuum)

2014
Capsicum (pepper) species are economically important crops that are recalcitrant to genetic transformation by Agrobacterium (Agrobacterium tumefaciens). A number of protocols for pepper transformation have been described but are not routinely applicable.

MODELLING NUTRIENT UPTAKE OF SWEET PEPPER

Acta Horticulturae, 2005
Models simulating dry matter production have been developed for a large number of greenhouse crops during the past decades. This paper describes how plant-nutrient relationships can be incorporated in a model for greenhouse crops, with sweet pepper as an example.

Transgenic sweet pepper plants from Agrobacterium mediated transformation

Plant Cell Reports, 1996
Fertile transgenic sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum var. grossum) plants were regenerated at relatively high rate from various explants that were cocultivated withAgrobacterium tumefaciens strain GV3111-SE harbouring a plasmid that contains the cucumber mosaic virus coat protein (CMV-CP) gene.

Pepper yellow vein, a new disease of sweet peppers

Plant Pathology, 1987
A new disease of peppers (Capsicum annuum) is described. The most characteristic symptom is vein yellowing of the youngest leaves. Some streaking occurs on the first‐formed fruits. The symptoms were reproduced in pepper plants cv. Bellboy by graft and Olpidium

Phytophthora root rot of sweet pepper

Netherlands Journal of Plant Pathology, 1980
Phytophthora capsici proved to be the causal agent of a root and crown rot of sweet pepper in the Netherlands.P. capsici was pathogenic on sweet pepper, tomato and sometimes on eggplant but not on tobacco ‘Xanthi’. Of these test plants only tomato was infected byP. nicotianae.
