Molecular Characterization of African Swine Fever Virus, China, 2018

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2018
On August 3, 2018, an outbreak of African swine fever in pigs was reported in China. We subjected a virus from an African swine fever–positive pig sample to phylogenetic analysis.

An Aptamer‐Based EXACT Anticoagulant as a Sustainable, Animal‐Free Alternative to Unfractionated Heparin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By simply conjugating thrombin's active‐site inhibitor, dabigatran, with an exosite inhibitor, aptamer HD1, the resulting EXosite‐ACTive site (EXACT) inhibitors show two orders of magnitude higher potency and selectivity via synergistic binding, while maintaining the aptamer's antidote‐reversible trait, yielding a potential substitute for the animal ...

Muscle glycogen level and occurrence of acid meat in commercial hybrid pigs are regulated by two low-frequency causal variants with large effects and multiple common variants with small effects

open access: yesGenetics Selection Evolution, 2019
Background Meat production from the commercial crossbred Duroc × (Landrace × Yorkshire) (DLY) pig is predominant in the pork industry, but its meat quality is often impaired by low ultimate pH (pHu).

Progesterone and Androstenedione Are Important Follicular Fluid Factors Regulating Porcine Oocyte Maturation Quality

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
Oocytes matured in vitro are useful for assisted human and farm animal reproduction. However, the quality of in vitro matured oocytes is usually lower than that of in vivo matured oocytes, possibly due to the absence of some important signal regulators ...

Pilot study of large-scale production of mutant pigs by ENU mutagenesis

open access: yeseLife, 2017
N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea (ENU) mutagenesis is a powerful tool to generate mutants on a large scale efficiently, and to discover genes with novel functions at the whole-genome level in Caenorhabditis elegans, flies, zebrafish and mice, but it has never been ...

A Programmable, 3D Neuron‐On‐Chip Platform Integrating Near Real‐Time Biosensing and Multiaxial Loading for Mechanobiological Injury Profiling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable 3D Neuron‐Injury‐on‐a‐Chip platform integrates multiaxial mechanical loading with ultrasensitive electrochemical biosensing to decode neuronal responses in real time. By mimicking physiologically relevant extension–torsion forces, the system reveals load‐specific biomarker trajectories (T‐Tau, NFL), gene regulation, and apoptosis.
