Switching Investments

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 2010
We present a simple online two-way trading algorithm that exploits fluctuations in the unit price of an asset. Rather than analysing worst-case performance under some assumptions, we prove a novel, unconditional performance bound that is parameterised either by the actual dynamics of the price of the asset, or by a simplifying model thereof.

Clinical, Histopathological, and Molecular Characterization of Pediatric MN1::ZNF341‐Associated Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A lethal round‐cell malignancy with an MN1::ZNF341 fusion has recently been reported in three infants. Here, we describe four further tumors, three in newborns (including monozygotic twins), and one in an adolescent. Detailed clinical, radiological, and histopathological data differentiate these tumors from their main mimics, neuroblastoma and

Co-translational protein aggregation and ribosome stalling as a broad-spectrum antibacterial mechanism

open access: yesNature Communications
Drug-resistant bacteria pose an urgent global health threat, necessitating the development of antibacterial compounds with novel modes of action. Protein biosynthesis accounts for up to half of the energy expenditure of bacterial cells, and consequently ...

Research of a Virtual Infrastructure Network with Hybrid Software-Defined Switching

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings, 2023
Modern trends in the information technology have led to the fact that entire systems of infrastructure are becoming software-defined. Modern hyper-converged solutions use software-defined networking and soft switches for the hypervisor networking ...

Admixture Mapping Reveals Candidate Regions for Methotrexate Neurotoxicity Susceptibility: A Reducing Disparities in Acute Leukemia Consortium Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neurotoxicity is a rare, often dose‐limiting adverse effect of methotrexate (MTX) therapy that disproportionally affects Latino children. Factors contributing to the observed disparity are not well understood. This study leveraged admixture mapping to identify genetic regions associated with MTX‐related neurotoxicity susceptibility ...

Atomic structures of medin and Aβ fibrils reveal polymorphic remodeling in mixed amyloid systems

open access: yesNature Communications
Amyloid assembly in vivo occurs in complex environments where multiple aggregation-prone species coexist. Aβ and medin are prevalent amyloids in ageing humans that co-localize in cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), yet their structural interactions remain

Cancer—A Pragmatic Switch to Combat Metabolic Syndrome?

open access: yesOncology Reviews, 2023
Both cancer and metabolic disease have become the prevalent health risks in modern societies worldwide. Cancer is a complex set of illnesses with many definitions. About 15% of cancers are caused by infections, and 10% carry a hereditary burden.

How to switch a master switch

open access: yeseLife, 2013
The crystal structure of a nucleotide exchange factor in white blood cells reveals an autoinhibitory mechanism that reinforces the switch-like behaviour of the signalling protein Ras.

On Hierarchical Composite Endpoints in Pediatric Cancer Supportive Care: Illustrative Examples From Two Multi‐Center Phase‐III Randomized Clinical Trials

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric supportive care clinical trials often involve multiple clinically important outcomes, complicating trial interpretation. Hierarchical composite endpoints (HCEs) provide a framework to integrate key outcomes according to clinical importance.

The Role of Chemotherapy in Pediatric Myoepithelial Carcinoma: A Systematic Review of the Literature

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Myoepithelial carcinoma (MEC) in pediatric patients is a rare and aggressive malignancy characterized by heterogeneous morphology and variable molecular features. The optimal role of chemotherapy remains unclear. We conducted a systematic review according to PRISMA 2020 guidelines to evaluate chemotherapy in pediatric and young‐adult patients ...
