Novel ZVS S-TCM Modulation of Three-Phase AC/DC Converters

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics, 2020
For three-phase AC-DC power conversion, the widely-used continuous current mode (CCM) modulation scheme results in relatively high semiconductor losses from hard-switching each device during half of the mains cycle.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

A New Single-Phase AC Voltage Converter With Voltage Buck Characteristics for Grid Voltage Compensation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Voltage sags and swells are the major problems of the power distribution system that arise due to uneven distribution of the single-phase and nonlinear loads.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Power Factor Adaptive DPWM Control Strategy for T-Type Three-Level Inverters

open access: yesEnergies
With the widespread application of multilevel inverters, device losses have become a critical area of research. A key limitation of conventional three-level discontinuous pulse width modulation (DPWM) strategies is their inability to maintain switching ...

Applications of combined MOSFET-IGBT power leg with reduced switching losses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper discusses power legs built upon the combination of a MOSFET and an IGBT. The suggested combined use of those different switches is intended to be applied in PWM controlled single and three phase inverters.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Voltage regulation considerations for the design of hybrid distribution transformers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The future substation depends on finding a way to mitigate the effects of the drawbacks of the conventional legacy by employing the efficiency of the solid state switches [1].

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Stochastic String Stability of Vehicle Platoons via Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control with Lossy Communication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper is about obtaining stable vehicle platooning by using Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control when the communication is unreliable and suffers from message losses.
