Syndecan-1 expression in laryngeal cancer

European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 2002
Syndecan-1 is a member of the syndecan family of cell surface heparan sulphate proteoglycans. The aim of this study was the evaluation of syndecan-1 expression in laryngeal cancer. The findings were correlated both with the clinico-pathological parameters of the tumours and with patient survival.

Syndecan-1 in the Tumor Microenvironment

2020
Syndecan-1 along with the other three syndecan proteins is present in the varied components of the tumor microenvironment: fibroblasts, inflammatory tumor immunity-associated cells, vessels, and extracellular matrix. Epithelial and non-epithelial tumors may show stromal syndecans.

Altered expression of syndecan‐1 in prostate cancer

APMIS, 2004
Syndecan‐1 is a cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan expressed by epithelial cells. It interacts with growth factors, matrix components, and other extracellular proteins, and is thought to be involved in processes such as cell growth, differentiation and adhesion. The expression of syndecan‐1 appears generally downregulated in human carcinomas and

Heparan Sulfate Targeting of Syndecan-1

Science Signaling, 2003
Cell-surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans bind to various extracellular proteins, including growth factors and proteases, and can thereby affect their function, increase their local concentration, and modify their interactions with receptors.

Syndecan-1 supports integrin α2β1-mediated adhesion to collagen

Experimental Cell Research, 2008
Several different receptor molecules act in concert to regulate cell adhesion. Among these are cell-surface proteoglycans and integrins, which collaborate extensively in mediating binding of cells to extracellular matrix molecules fibronectin and vitronectin.

Placental expression of syndecan 1 is diminished in preeclampsia

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2000
Syndecan 1 is a cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan that binds growth factors and antithrombin III. The objective of this study was to examine whether placental expression of syndecan 1 in preeclampsia differs from that in normal pregnancy and whether gestational age and fetal growth affect syndecan 1 expression. An immunohistochemical analysis of

Syndecan-1 insights in mesothelioma

2017
Syndecan-1 is a cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan expressing on epithelial cells. Heparan sulfate (HS) chains on syndecan-1 constitute growth factor attachment sites and facilitate growth factors to bind their respective receptors. This binding property of HS chains allows syndecan-1 to be involved in various cellular processes.
